Join us in powering North America!\nYour Opportunity\nOne Permanent Full Time Position.\nWe are a fast-growing organization that is focused on sustainable growth, committed to a low-carbon future, and believes in innovation.\nWe seek an innovative and motivated individual who is eager to work as part of a Team at our Harquahala Facility!\nReporting to the Operations Manager, as the Control Room Operator, you will work as the lead of a three-person team on a 12-hour rotating shift, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a 1092MW Combined Cycle Power Plant from the Control Room utilizing various control systems, as well as directing the operation of all plant equipment to the Power Block Operator and the Water Treatment Operator. The Operator must be able to work with others and assist in Overtime for other shifts as required.\nYou will contribute to our team by:\nEnsuring the safe operation of all plant equipment throughout all various operational situations. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, Gas Turbines, Steam Turbine, Generators, Heat Recovery Steam Generators, Emissions Monitoring system, Electrical systems, Compressors, motors, heaters, pumps, and all other balance of plant auxiliary equipment utilizing Turbine Control and Distributed Controls Systems.\nMonitoring equipment parameters such as temperature, pressure, levels, vibration, operating hours, and water chemistry, as well as reviewing Operator rounds, to verify operating conditions and trend operation.\nEnsuring water chemistry is within proper control ranges and adjusting as needed by controlling chemical feed and/or blowdown rates.\nPerforming general housekeeping and continuous improvement of the appearance of the facility as required.\nIssuing permits, including but not limited to Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, and Hot Work as required to authorize work.\nUtilizing the Computerized Maintenance Management System (Maximo) to enter service requests, as well as documenting the performance of assigned Preventative Maintenance.\nCommunicating plant conditions, particularly when unusual or abnormal, to the Operations Manager and Lead Control Room Operator.\nAssisting with development of operations procedures and programs.\nOperating heavy equipment such as a man-lift and forklift as required.\nAssisting with junior operator training.\nStrictly adhering to all safety and environmental rules and regulations to protect employees, contractors, community, and the environment.\nAssisting with performing Root Cause Analysis of failures as required.\nWhat you will bring to the role:\nEducation:\nCompleted High School Diploma required.\nTechnical training related to the role is preferred. \nExperience and Skills:\nExperience as an Operator in a power plant is desired. \nExperience as a Control Room Operator for Combined Cycle Plants is highly desirable.\nExperience in water chemistry control, analysis of water conditions, water treatment facility operations, and chemical handling requirements is preferred.\nTheoretical and practical knowledge of combustion/steam turbine operations closed system steam generation, industrial safety, hazardous waste management and inspection/recording of plant parameters is highly desirable.\nExperience with piping and instrument schematics and process control is desirable.\nExperience with Siemens units is desirable.\nExtensive working knowledge of the power plant industry is desirable.\nTechnical Skills:\nSolid ability to solve equipment, systems, and safety issues.\nGas Power Plant Operation and Maintenance experience.\nAble to problem solve and troubleshoot at an expert level concerning operating issues at Gas Power Plant.\nMust be able to communicate effectively with co-workers and help foster a positive team environment.\nWorking Conditions:\nHeavy industrial facility designated as a safety-sensitive location.\nPhysical mobility, including lifting and climbing, and ability to use PPE required.\nRotating Shift Work required.\nWorking Outside.\nAdditional Details:\nThis position is covered by a union agreement with IBEW 769\nAs this is a safety sensitive position, clearance of a pre-employment drug test is required, subject to applicable law.\nTo be considered for this role, you must be legally eligible to work in the United States of America.\nThe successful candidate for this position will undergo an education verification, reference checks, and criminal record check.\nCapital Power employees that refer a successful candidate for this position are eligible for a $1000 Referral Reward!\nWe believe that creating a culture that supports employees' physical, mental, financial, and social well-being is critical to our success.
