Join us in powering North America!\nYour Opportunity\nOne Temporary Full-Time Position Commencing May 2027\nCapital Power is seeking an innovative, results-oriented student to join the Data Centre Solutions team, which is responsible for data center power marketing and origination efforts across our diversified natural gas generation fleet. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and has a strong interest in energy and data centers.\nAs the Summer Student, Data Centre Solutions, you will support efforts to commercialize power solutions for data centers. Reporting to the Analysts on the team, you will contribute to identifying, analyzing, and advancing origination opportunities while providing insights and technical expertise to inform strategic decisions.\nWhat You'll Do:\nMarket Research & Customer Engagement:\nDraft and refine customer-facing materials, including proposals, presentations, and contracts.\nCollaborate with internal teams (Commercial, Operations, Regulatory, Government Relations, Engineering, Investor Relations) to address customer, institutional investor, and internal inquiries and provide accurate insights related to data center development.\nAnalyze customer and market data to generate actionable insights or reports for business development.\nConduct market research on trends, regulatory changes, and emerging opportunities in U.S. and Canadian energy and data center business sectors.\nMaintain and update databases of customer information, market trends, and deal opportunities.\nParticipate in customer calls and assist with meeting preparation, follow-up, and documentation.\nSite Assessment:\nEvaluate feasibility of existing assets and land parcels for co-located data centers, considering Transmission and Distribution (T&D) availability, water access, natural gas, and fiber connectivity \nBusiness Case and Internal Alignment:\nReview and analyze financial, contract pricing, utility tariff, and tax models used for power contract base case development.\nAssist in preparing proposals, presentations, and business cases for potential deals, ensuring alignment with internal stakeholders and leadership.\nWhat You'll Bring:\nEducation\nEnrolled in a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, political science, policy & government relations, engineering, or related field. \nEducation or work experience equivalency may be considered.\nExperience\nFamiliarity and a desire to work with energy markets, power generation technologies, and sustainability trends is an asset \nTechnical and Professional Skills\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. \nExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to translate complex information into actionable insights. \nAbility to work independently while managing multiple tasks and deadlines. \nExperience with financial modeling, data analysis, or research in the energy sector is an asset.\nWhat You'll Gain:\nExposure to the rapidly evolving data center and energy industries, including emerging opportunities driven by AI and digital infrastructure growth.\nHands-on experience supporting commercial development, customer engagement, and strategic decision-making.\nOpportunities to collaborate with leaders and subject matter experts across Commercial, Engineering, Operations, Regulatory, and Investor Relations teams.\nPractical experience in market analysis, financial modeling, business case development, and infrastructure assessment.\nDevelopment of professional skills including stakeholder management, business communication, and problem solving within a leading North American power producer.\nAdditional Details:\nTo be considered for this role you must be legally eligible to work in Canada.\nThe successful candidate for this position will undergo an education verification, reference checks and criminal record check.\nHow To Apply and Next Steps\nCapital Power only accepts resumes via online application atwww.capitalpower.com/careers.
