Join us in powering North America!\nYour Opportunity:\nThis position plays a key role in assessing the impacts of significant unusual transactions, assessing new accounting standards and regulations, and preparing the Company’s quarterly and annual financial statements.\nYou will contribute to our team by:\nAdvising on technical accounting matters and preparing supporting memos on an ad hoc basis, as required\nMonitoring technical accounting matters and communicating them to the auditors and senior management on a quarterly basis\nPreparing various supporting working papers on a quarterly and annual basis\nPreparing or reviewing certain notes and supporting working papers to the quarterly and annual financial statements\nAdvising on transactional impacts to AFFO on an ad hoc basis\nMonitoring IFRS developments and preparing a memo to the Audit Committee summarizing significant changes to IFRS, on a quarterly basis\nPreparing an IFRS disclosure checklist supporting our quarterly and annual financial statement disclosures, and\nperforming various other SOX controls, as required\nWhat you will bring to the role:\nEducation & Experience:\nPost-Secondary Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting\nA professional accounting designation\nExperience working with IFRS\nA minimum of 3 years of post-designation accounting experience.\nPast experience working as part of a Financial Reporting team, Experience working for a publicly listed company is an asset\nExperience with Oracle is an asset\nExperience with US GAAP is an asset\nProficiency in excel and Microsoft Office Suite\nWorking Conditions:\nHybrid: work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office Tuesdays through Thursdays.\n8 hours per day + reasonable overtime required during quarter ends.\nCore hours are from 7:30-8:30 through 4:30-5:30.\nAdditional Details\nIn order to be considered for this role you must be legally eligible to work in Canada.\nThe successful candidate for this position will undergo an education verification, reference checks and criminal record check.\nCapital Power employees that refer a successful candidate for this position are eligible for a $1000 Referral Reward!\nWe believe that creating a culture that supports employee physical, mental, financial, and social wellbeing is critical to our success.
