Join us in powering North America!\nYour Opportunity\nOne Permanent Full-Time Position.\nCapital Power is currently seeking a highly motivated, commercially minded individual to join our Supply & Trading (S&T) efforts as a Senior Analyst.\nS&T is responsible for managing and optimizing all of Capital Power’s North American merchant asset exposures (electricity, natural gas and environmental products). Reporting into the Director, Origination, the Senior Analyst role is accountable to provide quantitative and commercial support to the major North American power markets that Capital Power's origination team is active in and including the WECC and PJM markets.\nThis role will require a high amount of collaboration with key external and internal stakeholders, including customers, agencies, internal peer/cross-functional support groups, and executive.\nYou will contribute to our team by\nSupport originators in assessing market opportunities that are sourced directly from customers and counterparties\n\nConducting the varied analytical, modeling, reporting and compliance requirements of the Origination team, including market analytics, pricing, budget preparation, corporate business and market reporting.\n\nWork closely with internal teams, including trading, legal, finance, and operations, to ensure successful transaction structuring.\n\nDeveloping pricing models and tools for standard physical and financial, conventional, renewable, retail and wholesale energy products.\n\nPrice and structure customized and tailored products and services\n\nPrepare and support deal summary presentations to senior management\n\nSupporting the development of Capital Power’s responses to commercial opportunities by developing, maintaining and disseminating market intelligence associated with customer needs and prospective solutions.\n\nWhat you will bring to the role\nEducation:\nBachelor’s degree specializing in Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Engineering or related field.\n\nExperience:\n5-10 years’ experience in a similar role.\n\nTechnical Skills:\nCommercially focused business acumen, with strong analytical skills and the ability to simply communicate complex issues / challenges and associated solutions, both internally and externally.\n\nKnowledge and understanding of the roles, responsibilities and processes (front, middle, back-office) related to delivering energy-related solutions to customers and stakeholders.\n\nAdvanced application skills related to MS Office Suite (Dynamics CRM, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, PowerBI).\n\nAdvanced analytical and coding skills that can include coding / using VBA, SQL, R, Python languages.\n\nAn understanding of matters potentially impacting Capital Power’s customers / stakeholders, including energy market dynamics and interconnected markets and utility tariffs.\n\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills, solid negotiation skills.\n\nAbility to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure situations.\n\nWorking Conditions:\nThe position is based out of Capital Power's Calgary office.\n\nMay require occasional Canadian / US travel.\n\nAdditional Details\nIn order to be considered for this role you must be legally eligible to work in Canada.\nThe successful candidate for this position will undergo an education verification, reference checks and criminal record check.\nCapital Power employees that refer a successful candidate for this position are eligible for a $1000 Referral Reward!\nWe offer a highly flexible benefits and wellbeing program, comprehensive onboarding and training, and various development opportunities to support your success and personal growth.\nHow To Apply and Next Steps\nCapital Power only accepts resumes via online application atwww.capitalpower.com/careers.
