Join us in powering North America!\nYour Opportunity\nOne Permanent Full-Time Position.\nCapital Power is seeking a Senior Development Engineer, Thermal Generation to lead the technical development of large-scale thermal generation projects from concept selection through final investment decision. In this role, you will deliver technically sound and commercially viable projects while managing schedule,\ncost, and risk considerations.\nAs the technical lead, you will collaborate across strategy, development, operations, estimating, procurement, legal, and external engineering teams to advance projects from concept through execution and support key investment decisions.\nYou will contribute to our team by:\nProvide technical leadership and oversight for thermal generation development projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and investment priorities.\n\nEvaluate emerging technologies and provide technical leadership for thermal generation development opportunities.\n\nDevelop project layouts, technical documentation, and scopes of work to support project execution and investment decisions.\n\nManage internal resources and external consultants to deliver engineering solutions aligned with project objectives, schedules, budgets, and company standards.\n\nLead technical procurement activities, including RFP development, equipment evaluations, and equipment selection recommendations to optimize project performance, reliability, and capital costs.\n\nSupport project planning, estimating, scheduling, permitting, business case development, and project execution planning.\n\nLead technical due diligence, acquisition evaluations, and risk assessments to support investment decisions.\n\nDirect multidisciplinary teams and collaborate across engineering, permitting, procurement, construction, operations, and commercial teams to deliver successful project outcomes.\n\nIdentify and mitigate project risks while ensuring alignment across key stakeholders and workstreams.\n\nBuild strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders while promoting effective governance, accountability, and project delivery.\n\nProvide technical recommendations and innovative engineering solutions that improve project economics and support Capital Power's growth strategy.\n\nWhat you will bring to the role:\nEducation:\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Energy Systems, or related Engineering discipline.\n\nProfessional Engineer (PE) designation required.\n\nEducation equivalency may be considered.\n\nExperience:\n10+ years of experience within thermal power generation, energy infrastructure, or industrial facility development.\n\nDemonstrated experience leading FEED-stage engineering for gas-fired generation projects.\n\nExperience with simple-cycle, combined-cycle, repowering, conversion, or brownfield expansion projects.\n\nTechnical coordination of major equipment procurement, including gas turbine technologies.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with simple-cycle and combined-cycle gas turbine technologies.\n\nExperience supporting power generation development, EPC, owner's engineer, or major industrial infrastructure projects.\n\nExperience evaluating new generation technologies and emerging energy solutions.\n\nTechnical Skills:\nExperience supporting FEED, permitting, detailed design, and construction of thermal power generation facilities.\n\nStrong understanding of project economic drivers.\n\nGood understanding of costs involved in the operation and construction of power generation facilities.\n\nKnowledge of software applications for power plant performance layout and performance modeling.\n\nWorking Conditions:\nHybrid Office/Work from home position, with possible travel to meet business users at existing facilities or potential development sites.\n\nSuccessful candidate must be located in Phoenix, Arizona or Washington, DC\n\nAdditional Details\nThe pay range for this position is $128,000.00to $141,000.00.\nThe specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and priorrelevant experience.\nThis position is eligible for health care benefits, retirement benefits, paid time off, and annual bonus.\nIn order to be considered for this role you must be legally eligible to work in United States of America.\nThe successful candidate for this position will undergo an education verification, reference checks and criminal record check.\nAs this is a safety sensitive position, clearance of a pre-employment drug test is required, subject to applicable law.\nThis position is eligible for health care benefits, retirement benefits, paid time off, and annual bonus.\nCapital Power employees that refer a successful candidate for this position are eligible for a $1000 Referral Reward!\nHow To Apply and Next Steps\nCapital Power only accepts resumes via online application atwww.capitalpower.com/careers.
