This role suits a senior engineer with deep DevOps and infrastructure expertise who wants to set technical direction, raise the bar on reliability, and grow the engineers around them.\nYou Will Get To\nLead the architecture, build, and evolution of secure, scalable cloud platforms that support federal mission needs\nOwn cloud Infrastructure-as-Code standards and implementation using Terraform or similar tools\nDesign, automate, and maintain CI/CD pipelines that enable fast, safe, and repeatable software delivery\nDefine and track reliability practices, including SLIs, SLOs, monitoring, alerting, and observability\nLead incident response, root cause analysis, and postmortems for production issues, and drive lasting fixes\nBuild automation that reduces manual work, improves system resilience, and speeds up delivery\nDesign runbooks and procedures for troubleshooting, maintenance, and disaster recovery\nEvaluate new and emerging technologies through prototypes and proofs of concept, weighing benefits and risks before adoption\nPartner with development, architecture, security, and product teams to deliver integrated, production-ready solutions\nLead technical discussions, architecture reviews, and platform decisions\nMentor and guide engineers while establishing platform engineering standards and best practices\nWho You Are\nA senior technical leader who enjoys solving complex infrastructure and reliability problems at scale\nSomeone who automates first and builds systems that are easy to operate and recover\nComfortable leading technical conversations and influencing engineering direction\nCalm and methodical under pressure during production incidents\nCollaborative, proactive, and quick to get up to speed on new projects and technologies\nPassionate about building secure, high-quality systems in mission-driven environments\nQualifications\n Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)\n9+ years of professional experience in DevOps, platform engineering, SRE, or infrastructure engineering, including technical leadership\nExperience working with governance processes, technical standards, formal change management, or shared enterprise services\nAbility to identify dependencies and articulate resource needs, tradeoffs, risks, and decisions for the product leadership\nStrong hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes, Git, Linux, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI\nProven experience managing Infrastructure-as-Code with Terraform or similar tools\nExperience designing and operating workloads in a cloud environment (AWS preferred; GCP or Azure considered)\nExperience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Splunk, or CloudWatchcf\nProficiency in scripting and automation (Bash, Python, or Go)\nWorking knowledge of databases and SQL\nExperience troubleshooting production systems, performance tuning, and leading root cause analysis\nUnderstanding of DevSecOps practices and secure infrastructure principles\nStrong communication, problem-solving, and technical leadership skills\nNice to Have\nExperience producing clear product status updates, operational metrics, dashboards, and risk narratives\nStrong stakeholder-management skills and ability to coordinate effectively across product, program, engineering, security, and operations organizations\nExperience coordinating shared resources or cross-team technical dependencies\nPeople management experience\nExperience with Harness.io\nFamiliarity with Zero Trust principles and FedRAMP or ATO processes\nExperience with service mesh, GitOps tools (Argo CD, Flux), or serverless platforms\nRelevant certifications such as CKA, AWS Solutions Architect, or AWS DevOps Engineer\nExperience supporting federal government agencies\nSalary\nWe are committed to offering a competitive salary for this position, with an estimated range of $140k-$200k annually.
