This role is ideal for a senior technical leader who brings strong backend architecture expertise, systems thinking, and hands-on engineering experience to lead the development of scalable, secure, and maintainable applications across complex enterprise environments.\nYou Will Get To\nLead design, development, and modernization of enterprise software systems supporting federal mission needs\nDrive engineering efforts across the full software development lifecycle, from architecture through deployment\nBuild scalable, secure, and maintainable backend applications using modern engineering best practices\nArchitect and develop APIs using REST and GraphQL\nLead system design discussions, architecture reviews, and technical decision-making\nPartner with product, architecture, DevSecOps, and infrastructure teams to deliver integrated technical solutions\nTroubleshoot complex application, integration, and system performance issues\nContribute to cloud modernization, application refactoring, and platform engineering improvements\nMentor junior and mid-level engineers while establishing engineering standards and best practices\nSupport secure software delivery, code quality, testing automation, and CI/CD pipeline integration\nTranslate business and mission requirements into technical implementation strategies\nWho You Are\nA senior technical leader who enjoys solving complex engineering problems at scale\nStrong in backend architecture, distributed systems, and modern software engineering design\nComfortable leading technical conversations and influencing engineering direction\nCollaborative, proactive, and solutions-oriented\nPassionate about building secure, high-quality software in mission-driven environments\nQualifications\n Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)\n9+ years of professional experience in software engineering, including enterprise application development\nTechnical leadership, mentoring, code reviews, and architecture ownership\nStrong hands-on experience with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, React, Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs\nExperience designing distributed systems, microservices, integrations, and scalable enterprise applications\nStrong understanding of software architecture, system design, design patterns, and engineering best practices\nExperience building cloud-native applications in AWS/Azure\nExperience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, source control, and DevSecOps workflows\nKnowledge of secure software development principles, API security, and application security best practices\nExperience troubleshooting production systems, performance tuning, and operational support\nStrong communication and technical leadership skills\nNice to Have\nExperience with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), event-driven architecture, or serverless platforms\nExperience supporting federal government agencies\nSalary\nWe are committed to offering a competitive salary for this position, with an estimated range of $120k-$165k annually.
