Once you have completed the above finalize your application by clicking apply below.\nAbout this job:\n\nBuild the platform that powers engineering at scale \n\nWe're looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to help reimagine how software moves from commit to production in an AI-first world.Our focus is extending our Internal Developer Platform to support AI-generated software, removing bottlenecks that slow engineers down, and building the guardrails, automation and governance needed to safely accelerate delivery at scale.You'll be building platform capabilities that influence the day-to-day experience of 1,000+ engineers, shaping how software is built, tested, secured and released across the organisation. \n\nWorking across GitHub, Kubernetes, AWS, EKS, Terraform, GitOps and CI/CD, you'll help challenge traditional assumptions about software delivery and engineer the next generation of developer workflows. Many of today's delivery models were designed for a world where humans authored most of the code. \n\nThis role is for someone who enjoys building more than maintaining. Someone who can take an idea from concept to POC to production. Someone who sees friction, questions why it exists, and then automates it away.\n\nAbout our team \n\nWe operate within a broader platform engineering function responsible for developer experience, Kubernetes and platform support. This role sits in the team focused on our internal developer platform, the tooling engineers use to provision infrastructure, build pipelines and deploy into our cloud environment. Our platform is used by multiple engineering teams across the business and is central to how we deliver software at scale. The team currently includes engineers across multiple seniority levels, and we are adding another senior engineer to strengthen our technical depth.\n\nWhat you'll do\n\nWe will rely on you to design and implement infrastructure using code, enabling consistent, repeatable and scalable environments across our cloud platform. \n\nWe will expect you to build and optimise cloud-native deployment pipelines that support high-frequency, low-risk releases. \n\nWe will look to you to enhance our internal developer platform, improving how engineers provision infrastructure and deploy services. \n\nWe will count on you to troubleshoot complex platform and performance issues across distributed systems and lead root-cause investigations. \n\nWe will expect you to contribute to architectural decisions across microservices, event-driven systems and cloud-native patterns. \n\nWe will rely on you to mentor other engineers and raise the engineering standard across the team. \n\nWhy this role is different \n\nWe build platforms for engineers, not end-users. That means every decision is grounded in performance, reliability and usability at scale. \n\nWe give you the opportunity to: \n\nInfluence platform architecture across cloud, containers and automation. \n\nBuild tools that are used across engineering teams, not just a single product. \n\nWork on complex distributed systems with real production scale. \n\nIntroduce new capabilities, including practical AI-driven enhancements to the developer experience. \n\nContribute as a senior technical contributor without needing formal line management. \n\nWhat we're looking for \n\nWe are looking for deep experience in platform engineering, site reliability or DevOps engineering. \n\nWe expect at least five years of hands-on experience working in cloud environments. \n\nWe require strong experience building infrastructure as code using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation or similar. \n\nWe are looking for solid experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, for example Jenkins or GitHub Actions. \n\nWe expect strong hands-on experience with containers and orchestration, particularly Kubernetes. \n\nWe are looking for experience designing and operating cloud-native systems, including microservices and event-driven architectures. \n\nWe require strong scripting or programming capability, for example Python, Go, Bash or PowerShell. \n\nWe value experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, supported by relevant certifications. \n\nWe expect a strong understanding of networking, security, APIs, databases and distributed systems. \n\nWe are looking for engineers who can clearly explain their architecture decisions and the systems they've built. \n\nWe value experience leading or influencing engineering practices and mentoring others. \n\nEducation (Minimum)\n\rA relevant degree in Information Technology\r\nEducation (Ideal or Preferred)\n\rA relevant degree in Information Technology - IT Engineering\r\nConditions of employment \n\nWe require a clear criminal and credit record.\n\nThis role is based in Stellenbosch \n\nWe are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace and consider applications in support of our employment equity goals. \n\nReady to apply?\n\nApply if you're excited about shaping the future of software delivery, developer experience and AI-enabled engineering for 1,000+ engineers \n\nNot interested in maintaining the status quo?
