We're growing our credit team and we need someonewho takes ownership of test quality not just test execution.\nWhat you'll do\n\nDesign and run end-to-end automated test suites that give the team real confidence before anything ships\n\nOwn test coverage across credit product flows from origination and account management through to behavioural and data-driven processes\n\nWrite and maintain service stubs and mocks so testing can happen independently of live systems\n\nQuery and validate data using SQL, making sure the right outcomes land in the right places\n\nTrack, report and communicate test results clearly surfacing risks early so the team can act on them\n\nShare what you know support and guide less experienced engineers as the team grows\n\nAbout the team\n\rThe Nexus Credit team works across some of our most complex and high-impact product areas: term loans,credit cards, access facilities, payday management and the data science models that drive credit decisions in the background. The work is technically deep event-driven architectures, behavioural scoring, real-time financial data and the team is split across Stellenbosch and Sandton, so you can be based at either location.Half the team is already distributed, and it works well.\nWhy this role is different\n\rMost test automation engineer roles sit at the edges of a product. This one sits in the engine room. You'll work directly with credit and data science workflows the kind of systems where quality decisions have real financial consequences for real people. We don't wear suits and we don't work in silos. You'll have room to influence how automation is done, not just execute what's already been decided. And if there are tools in our stack you haven't used yet, we believe in investing in growth and proactively encouraging continuous learning and development. Upskilling time is built in.\nWhat we're looking for\n\nGrade 12 National Certificate \n\nA Relevant Tertiary Qualification\n\n3–5 years of hands-on experience in test automation\n\nSolid working knowledge of Playwright or transferable tools such as Selenium\n\nJavaScript / Node.js for test automation this is your primary language\n\nSQL fundamentals, including PostgreSQL and/or SQL Server\n\nFamiliarity with test management, quality assurance practices, reporting and defect tracking\n\nUnderstanding of software development lifecycles, APIs and system integration concepts\n\nThe ability to analyse, interpret and validate system behaviour not just run scriptsService stubbing / mocking using Node.js is advantageous\n\nExposure to Kafka, event-driven architecture, AWS cloud services or credit / financial services environments is advantageous\n\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills you'll work across engineering, product and data teams\n\nWhat's in it for you\n\rWe make it a priority to ensure that each person at Capitec feels known, valued and focused with the opportunity to grow.
