WE NEED SOMEONE WHO KNOWS IT FROM THE INSIDE.\n\rYou've built automation frameworks from scratch, worked across iOS and Android, and handled real-world challenges such as device fragmentation, biometrics, deep links, OTP and push flows. \nWho we are \n\rWe're Capitec — South Africa's largest bank by client base, with over 24 million active clients and 14 million people who rely on our app every day. Our headquarters are right here in Stellenbosch, where this role is based.\nWhat this role is about \n\rThis is a senior, hands-on role focused on advancing native mobile app automation across complex product environments. You'll shape scalable automation solutions, guide best practice and mentor others — without direct reports. You'll also apply sound judgement on when manual testing adds more value than automation.\nWhat you'll do \n\nIntegrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines, quality gates, version control and reporting \n\nBuild web, API and service-level automation for complex and event-driven systems \n\nSet coding standards, review automation code and improve framework performance and reliability \n\nTrack automation coverage and use results to identify systemic quality risks \n\nMentor junior and mid-level engineers and represent automation in technical forums \n\nWhat we're looking for \n\n5–8 years' hands-on automation testing experience \n\nProven native mobile app automation experience across iOS and Android \n\nStrong Appium experience in production-grade environments \n\nExperience with WebdriverIO and/or Playwright \n\nAbility to design automation frameworks and strategy from scratch \n\nExperience with cloud device farms such as BrowserStack \n\nStrong web, API and service-level automation knowledge \n\nExperience with CI/CD, databases, integrated systems and event-driven environments \n\nSound judgement on what to automate and what to test manually \n\nA collaborative, hands-on approach to mentoring and technical leadership \n\nMinimum education and experience \n\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field\n\n5–8 years' automation testing experience, including framework design at scale\n\nTest Automation Certification advantageous\n\nTechnology exposure \n\nMobile: Appium, WebdriverIO — native iOS and Android, gestures, deep links, biometrics, OTP and push flows \n\nCloud devices: BrowserStack or similar platforms — parallel execution and device coverage strategy \n\nWeb and API: Playwright, WebdriverIO — API and service-level testing \n\nDelivery: CI/CD pipelines, quality gates, version control and reporting \n\nSystems: Databases, event-driven environments, test data management and containerised testing \n\nEducation (Minimum)\n\rBachelor's Degree in Information Technology -
