We work in a dynamic environment and thrive on tackling rewarding and complex problems as a team.\nPosition Scope\nReporting to the Senior Systems Engineer, Advanced Automation and Data Integration, the selected candidate will collaborate with the Process Systems Engineering team applying a range of tools and techniques to deliver process modelling, data analytics, advanced automation, and process intelligence solutions. The primary objective is to contribute to projects that enhance CE’s technologies and improve operations for the broader CE team.\nThis position is an 8 month or longer co-op term. Start dates are flexible.\nThis position is on-site and based in Squamish, BC.\nThe work schedule follows a M-F, 40hrs/week schedule. \nRelocation support is provided, including first 4 weeks company paid accommodation\nThis position pays $22-26/hour.\nExpected start date is September 2026.\nHealth, Safety and Environment:\nDemonstrate a positive safety culture. \nIdentify, report and resolve unsafe conditions, processes or actions within the workplace. \nEnsure that all safety related incidents, accidents and near misses are reported and investigated in line with company policy. \nTechnical Responsibilities:\nThe key objectives for this position are to enable acceleration of Carbon Engineering’s technology roadmap by supporting demonstration plant operations through two main initiatives: \nSupport the adoption and maintenance of various data apps\nMaintain and improve the implementation of process metrics, diagnostics and associated visualizations. \nSupport the integration and testing of advanced process controls and soft sensors. \nDetailed Responsibilities include:\nData-Apps:\nSupport data migration, and end-user adoption for published apps\nContribute to Continuous improvement of in-house apps\nAsset-based Data Modelling:\nValidate and Maintain asset templates that reflect their functional/logical attributes\nDemonstrate, test and refine with feedback from target audience\nAdvanced controls and instrumentation:\nUsing plant simulations, test supervisory control strategies and integration thereof.\nSupport the development and testing of soft-sensor systems which intelligently combine information from data historian, process models, lab tests and real-time instrumentation.\nEducation and Experience\nEducation and Knowledge:\n\nCompleted second year Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or Electrical & Computer engineering with coursework and/or experience related to process automation and controls, industrial automation systems, relational databases, graphical user interface and front-end development. \nRequired Technical Skills: Experience with technical computing and data analysis in Python.\nDesirable Technical Skills: Experience with OSI-PI, Asset Framework and PI Vision\nExperience with data visualization tools, such as Power BI, Matplotlib, Seaborn, Bokeh or ParaView\nExperience with formulating SQL queries\nExperience in web app development; FastAPI, React, Streamlit.\nRequired Soft Skills: \nStrong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with team members and share ideas.\nCuriosity and a willingness to learn, especially in fast-paced or evolving technical environments.\nAdaptability and problem-solving mindset, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and contribute to creative solutions.\nTeam-oriented attitude, with a focus on collaboration, respect, and mutual support.\nTime management and organizational skills, to balance multiple tasks and meet deadlines efficiently.\nAttention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality in both technical and non-technical work.\nJoining Carbon Engineering provides you more than a career - it’s a calling for those who are ready to make a difference in climate action.
