We pride ourselves in developing an environment where we all can teach, learn, and grow together.\nAbout the Role…\nAs a mechanical engineer on the Continuous Improvement team, you will help us design, build, and sustain groundbreaking additive manufacturing solutions ranging from new printers to new ways to clean parts. \nThe Continuous Improvement team has a wide variety of responsibilities, including leading new product introduction (NPI) with Manufacturing, developing new product variations, designing new features for current products, and adapting current products for long-term production in a dynamic manufacturing environment.\nAs a member of a tight-knit and cross-functional hardware team, you'd contribute ideas and develop practical solutions to an evolving list of never before seen challenges. Some travel will be necessary to our Santa Clara manufacturing facility. \nYou will…\nOwn design, architecture and testing of complex parts and subassemblies and drive changes through Production.\nPerform engineering analysis of parts and assemblies, including, detailed tolerance, safety, thermal, stress, fatigue, lifetime, manufacturability, failure modes, and cost.\nCollaborate directly with Industrial Design, Electrical, Optical, Software, and other engineering teams to create engineering requirements, implement designs, and troubleshoot issues.\nCollaborate with Operations, such as, Sourcing, Planning, Quality, Manufacturing, Production, and Field Service to support released products, ensure continued production, and troubleshoot issues seen during assembly and in the field.\nCreate and maintain clear engineering specifications and documentation to support effective knowledge transfer throughout the company.\nWork closely with suppliers and manufacturing throughout development to ensure quality and performance.\nYou have…\nRequired\nB.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical degree.\n3+ years experience successfully taking mechanical designs from concept to production.\nStrong ability to perform engineering analysis of parts and assemblies that can include: detailed tolerance, safety, thermal, stress, fatigue, lifetime, manufacturability, failure modes, and cost.\nUnderstand product quality metrics and methods including GD&T, DFMEA, and Statistical Process Control (SPC).\nExperience collaborating directly with cross functional engineering teams to create engineering requirements, implement designs, and troubleshoot issues.\nExperience with material selection in sheet metal, metal, plastic, and elastomers. \nStrong familiarity with sheet metal fabrication methods, plastic injection molding, casting, and CNC machining.\nExceptional communication skills and ability to present and defend design decisions to leadership.\nExperience driving designs to schedules and providing schedule input to project managers.\nPlease include your portfolio along with your resume.\nNice to Have\nExperience in a production environment / comfort working with technicians on the manufacturing floor as well as in the lab. \nYou do not need to match every listed expectation to apply for this position.
