Under the direction of the Sr. Research Engineer,the candidate will have the primary responsibility to conduct necessary analytical testing using the appropriate equipmentand techniques, as a contribution to the overall success of CarbonCure.\n\nWhat You’ll Be Doing \nPrepare and analyze specimens for material testing according to established procedures\nConduct material testing with techniques such as isothermal calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), quantitative x-ray diffraction (QXRD), Carbon Sulphuranalyzer, and FTIR\nConduct testing following established procedures and good laboratory practices\nReview analytical data for completeness, quality, and conformance with established acceptance criteria\nMaintain analytical equipment in an optimaloperating condition through routine calibration, verification, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting\nBatch, mix, cast, consolidate, label, and cure concrete specimens for research and performance testing programs with attention to adhering to relevant standards\nMeasure and document fresh-concrete properties and hardened properties of concrete\nCompile, interpret, and present results using defined technical reporting formats\nAuthor standard operating procedures and training for laboratory users\nAssist in performing and interpreting the results for bench top laboratory experiments aimed at understanding the behavior of cement with CO2\nIndependently perform and validatecarbonation-potential studies on construction materials based on experimental design, laboratory testing, and data analysis\nMaintain good housekeeping in the concrete laboratory and the analytical laboratory\nComply withHealth, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures appropriate forthe laboratory\n\nWhat You Need to Succeed\nA university degree in chemistry, materials science, civil, environmental, or chemical engineering, or related discipline\nKnowledge of cement chemistry, cement hydration, cement-admixture interactions, concrete properties, and concrete performance\nFamiliarity with concrete materials, including cement, supplementary cementitious materials, aggregates, and chemical admixtures; experience with concrete mixing, specimen preparation, curing, and testing is an asset\nExperience preparing samples, conducting tests, compiling results, and interpreting data according to established procedures\nExperience with analytical techniques such as thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), quantitative x-ray analysis (QXRD), Carbon Sulphur analyzer, FTIR, and related laboratory information-management systems\nFamiliarity with collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence\nStrong written communication skills, including preparation of technical reports, SOPs, work instructions, and presentation materials\nA creative and practical mindset, with the ability to translate new process concepts into testable experiments and assess their technical feasibility\nAbility to work independently while contributing effectively in an interdisciplinary, fast-paced research environment\nWe are changing the world.
