This technology enables a faster, more scalable, and more efficient way to create interactive vehicle experiences.\nThe role\nAs a Senior / Lead Computer Vision Engineer, you will own computer vision and generative AI features from research and prototyping through to production deployment.\nThis is primarily an individual contributor role, with an approximate split of 80% hands-on technical work and 20% technical leadership. You will help guide and support the team, without being responsible for managing a large organization.\nAt CarCutter, you will work on production-grade AI systems in a highly competitive market. We actively explore state-of-the-art technologies, including image and video generation models while maintaining high standards for quality, efficiency, scalability, and commercial viability. This extends to the way of working itself, where it is expected every engineer uses and continues to learn about AI tooling to accelerate the work.\nWhat you’ll do\nOwn computer vision and generative AI features end to end, from research and prototyping to staging and production deployment.\n\nEvaluate state-of-the-art computer vision and generative AI technologies, including open-source models and API-based solutions, using rigorous benchmarks based on real-world use cases.\n\nDesign, implement, and optimize production-grade pipelines, with a strong focus on inference performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.\n\nHelp the team move faster by sharing technical context, processes, resources, and best practices.\n\nCollaborate closely with software engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to integrate AI solutions into customer-facing products.\n\nAssess the maturity and business relevance of the latest advances in computer vision, machine learning, and generative AI.\n\nContribute to technical decisions and help balance image quality, robustness, performance, and commercial constraints.\n\nWrite clear technical documentation covering system design, model behavior, evaluation methods, and operational considerations.\n\nSupport the team through knowledge sharing, technical guidance, and mentoring.\n\nWhat we’re looking for\nA Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, or a related field.\n\nAt least 6 years of industry experience in AI, machine learning, or computer vision.\n\nStrong programming skills in Python and deep expertise in PyTorch.\n\nHands-on experience across the computer vision stack, including:\nClassical image and signal processing.\n\nDeep learning-based perception models, such as segmentation, detection, and refinement.\n\nGenerative models, including diffusion architectures.\n\nA proven ability to take AI systems from concept to production, including deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.\n\nStrong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.\n\nThe ability to align technical decisions with business priorities and constraints.\n\nA high degree of ownership, autonomy, and pragmatism.\n\nA results-driven mindset suited to a fast-moving and competitive environment.\n\nFluency in written and spoken English.\n\nNice to have\nContributions to open-source AI or computer vision projects.\n\nExperience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines for machine learning systems.\n\nExperience deploying and operating machine learning models in the cloud, preferably on AWS.\n\nExperience optimizing model inference performance.\n\nPrevious experience providing technical leadership or mentoring engineers.\n\nDo not hesitate to apply if you have never held a lead role but wish to do so.\nWhat makes this position interesting?\nWork on high-impact AI features\nYou will work on the core product and see the impact of your work every day.
