The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2 and CICS, along with experience working in large-scale, mission-critical applications, preferably within Insurance/BFSI environments.\n\nResponsibilities : \n\n- Design, develop, enhance and maintain Mainframe applications based on business and technical requirements.\n\n- Develop and maintain programs using COBOL, JCL, DB2 and CICS.\n\n- Analyze functional requirements and prepare technical/design specifications.\n\n- Develop efficient and reusable COBOL programs following enterprise coding standards.\n\n- Write and maintain JCL jobs, procedures and job streams.\n\n- Develop and optimize DB2 SQL queries, stored procedures and database processes.\n\n- Work on CICS online transactions and troubleshoot production issues.\n\n- Perform impact analysis for application changes and enhancements.\n\n- Conduct unit testing, system testing, integration testing and regression testing.\n\n- Analyze defects, identify root cause and implement appropriate fixes.\n\n- Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to development and quality standards.\n\n- Troubleshoot application, batch and database issues across development, testing and production environments.\n\n- Monitor and support batch processing and production jobs.\n\n- Work closely with Business Analysts, QA teams, Architects, Production Support and other technology teams.\n\n- Participate in requirement discussions, estimation, sprint planning and technical walkthroughs.\n\n- Prepare technical documentation, application specifications and deployment-related documentation.\n\n- Support production releases, implementation activities and post-production validation.\n\n- Ensure application changes comply with enterprise security, governance, audit and quality standards.\n\n- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and deliver assigned stories within sprint timelines.\n\n- Work with globally distributed teams and stakeholders across different locations/time zones.\n\n- Identify opportunities for application modernization, performance improvement and process optimization.\n\n- Provide knowledge transfer and technical support to other team members when required.\n\nRequirements : \n\n- 4 to 6 years of strong hands-on experience in Mainframe development.\n\n- Strong proficiency in COBOL, JCL, DB2 and CICS.\n\n- Good knowledge of VSAM, GDG, PROC and utility programs.\n\n- Strong experience in writing and debugging COBOL programs.\n\n- Good hands-on experience with DB2 SQL, joins, cursors, stored procedures and database performance considerations.\n\n- Good understanding of CICS architecture, transactions and online processing.\n\n- Experience with batch processing, job scheduling and JCL troubleshooting.\n\n- Strong understanding of Mainframe application architecture and SDLC.\n\n- Experience in production support, incident analysis and defect resolution.\n\n- Good understanding of change management, release management and deployment processes.\n\n- Experience with debugging tools and Mainframe utilities such as SDSF, SORT, IDCAMS, IEBGENER, IEBCOPY and similar utilities.\n\n- Experience working with source-code/version-control tools such as Git, Endevor, Changeman or similar is preferred.\n\n- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodology and experience working in sprint-based delivery models.\n\n- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.\n\n- Good understanding of software development, testing and defect lifecycle.\n\n- Ability to understand complex legacy applications and perform impact analysis.\n\n- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.\n\n- Experience in Insurance, BFSI or other large enterprise applications will be highly
