The London-based Middle Office IT team primarily supports Energy trading across Oil, Gas, Power, LNG, Carbon and Environmental products, partnering closely with Trading, Trade Support, Operations, Risk, Compliance and Regulatory teams.\nThe team is responsible for strategic and tactical initiatives across trade lifecycle management, regulatory reporting, surveillance, broker reconciliation, exchange onboarding, market data integration and operational controls. The role requires strong functional knowledge of commodities trading, stakeholder management capability and the ability to bridge business priorities with technology delivery.\nThis role will work closely with Front Office, Middle Office, Trade Support, Compliance, Operations, Quantitative, Architecture and Engineering teams globally.\nKey Responsibilities\nBusiness Analysis & Delivery\nBuild and manage strong relationships with stakeholders including Trading, Trade Support, Compliance, Operations, Risk, Product Owners, Enterprise Architects, Development Leads and external vendors/exchanges.\nElicit, analyse and document business requirements through workshops, process analysis, interviews and data-driven investigation.\nTranslate business requirements into high quality user stories, functional specifications, process flows and acceptance criteria.\nDrive functional design discussions across multiple platforms and integration points.\nSupport backlog management and prioritisation aligned to strategic business objectives.\nPartner with development teams throughout the SDLC to ensure functional alignment and successful delivery.\nParticipate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, refinement sessions, sprint reviews and retrospectives.\nCoordinate and support SIT/UAT testing activities, defect triage and production validation.\nFacilitate training, knowledge transfer and adoption sessions for business users.\nCommodities & Middle Office Domain Responsibilities\nStrong understanding of the Gas & Power trading lifecycle across physical and derivatives products.\nExperience supporting Power, Gas, LNG and Environmental products across trade capture, scheduling, confirmations, settlements and invoicing processes.\nKnowledge of exchange-traded and OTC Gas & Power products including futures, swaps, options and spot trading.\nUnderstanding of nominations, scheduling and operational workflows within Gas & Power markets.\nExperience working with trade flows from exchanges and brokers into ETRM platforms.\nExposure to Power market concepts such as nodes, balancing, settlements, congestion and hourly trading constructs.\nFamiliarity with Gas & Power regulatory reporting obligations including REMIT and EMIR.\nExperience supporting reconciliations across exchanges, brokers, counterparties and downstream operational systems.\nUnderstanding of STP trade flows, exception management and operational controls within Energy trading environments.\nExperience analysing integrations between market platforms, ETRM systems, pricing providers and downstream reporting systems.\nExposure to exchange onboarding and market connectivity initiatives for Energy trading platforms.\nUnderstanding of trade events lifecycle including amendments, allocations, confirmations, settlements and lifecycle exceptions.\nKnowledge of market data and pricing services used within Gas & Power trading environments is advantageous.\nStrategic & Technical Responsibilities\nContribute to portfolio roadmap discussions and strategic initiatives.\nSupport architecture and solution design discussions for scalable and maintainable platforms.\nUnderstand data lineage, interfaces and system dependencies across the Middle Office landscape.\nContribute to business analysis standards, governance and best practices within the organisation.\nAssist with vendor engagement, onboarding and solution evaluation where required.\nKey Competencies & Skills\nFunctional & Business Knowledge\nStrong experience within commodities trading environments, preferably Energy (Oil, Gas, Power, LNG, Environmental Products).\nStrong understanding of the physical and derivatives trade lifecycle.\nGood understanding of exchange traded and OTC products.\nKnowledge of trade operations, reconciliations, confirmations and regulatory reporting processes.\nExposure to market surveillance, market abuse monitoring or compliance-related initiatives is advantageous.\nBusiness Analysis & Delivery Skills\nProven experience delivering complex cross-functional projects within trading environments.\nStrong requirements gathering, process modelling and documentation capability.\nAbility to manage multiple stakeholders across business and technology functions.\nStrong communication and presentation skills, including interaction with senior stakeholders.\nAbility to challenge requirements constructively and drive clarity.\nExperience working within Agile/Scrum delivery models.\nStrong organisational, planning and prioritisation skills.\nTechnical & Data Skills\nGood understanding of system integrations, APIs and event-driven architectures.\nExperience working with data analysis tools and querying technologies such as SQL.\nFamiliarity with Jira, Confluence and Agile tooling.\nUnderstanding of data flows, reconciliation processes and operational controls.\nExposure to cloud, data platforms or analytics solutions is advantageous.\nEducation & Experience\n7+ years of Business Analysis experience within commodities trading or financial markets.\nExperience working on global, multi-region delivery initiatives.\nExperience working across both bespoke and vendor/platform-based solutions.\nDegree educated or equivalent industry experience.\nISEB, CBAP, IIBA or Agile certifications are advantageous but not
