Reports To: Assistant Director of Public Works - Engineering Positions Supervised: None Job Summary\nCivil Engineer will oversee and manage the design and construction of water, wastewater, storm drainage system, and street infrastructure.\nRoles & Responsibilities\n Provides and/or oversees surveying and engineering design for the construction of public infrastructure improvements to be constructed by the City's in-house construction crew and contractors.\n Identifies, evaluates, and provides improvement recommendations to senior leadership with supporting preliminary and final design criteria for the project.\n Provides technical advice and assistance to contractors, developers, the general public, and other City departments in a professional and courteous manner.\n Coordinates efforts and projects with other City personnel to assure efficient operation of maintenance and construction projects.\n Develops and manages project estimates, schedules, and consultant and contractor contracts.\n Assists with design plan reviews for development projects; ensures necessary corrections upon identification of deficiencies.\n Assists with the oversight of field inspections to ensure adequacy and compliance of capital improvements and development related projects.\n Monitors construction progress, reviews and approves contractor invoices, and ensures construction record drawings are prepared accordingly.\n Assists with the management of the floodplain program and permitting process; reviews, approves, or rejects residential and commercial floodplain permitting requests.\n Assists with updating City design criteria, details, and specifications.\n Other related duties as assigned.\n Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities\n Extensive knowledge of CAD systems and engineering software applications.\n Considerable knowledge of word processing systems and personal computers; good knowledge of peripheral office equipment such as printers, faxes, copiers, calculators, and other modern office equipment.\n Ability to perform simple and complex mathematical calculations.\n Extensive knowledge of surveying, drafting, engineering, and construction practices, techniques, and procedures.\n Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local engineering design criteria for the North Texas region including roadway, traffic, drainage, water, and wastewater design.\n Ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering specifications, reference materials, reports, records, plan sets, studies, regulations, easements, contracts, and safety requirements related to facilities, street, drainage, water, and wastewater infrastructure.\n Ability to provide effective, professional written and oral communication to City staff, citizens, developers, and consultants.\n Regular, reliable, and punctual levels of attendance are essential job functions and expectations of this position.\n Physical Requirements\n Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.\n Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, and climb in and out of workplace equipment.\n Must be able to crawl, reach, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, twist, and crouch when performing job duties.\n Required to be able to carry, balance, lift, push, pull, and reach equipment and material weighing up to 40 pounds.\n Hearing and vision must be satisfactory to the degree that duties may be performed effectively and safely.\n Environmental Conditions\n Majority of work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled facility.\n Work outdoors in all types of weather conditions will be required.\n Minimum Qualifications\n Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and Texas P.E. registration.\n Five years of water, wastewater, drainage, and street project management experience, or any combination of training and experience leading to the described level of knowledge and skill.\n Must have a valid Class C Texas Driver's License.\n Closing Date/Time:
