By leveraging state-of-the-art tools, innovative methods, and strategic partnerships, we are at the center of shaping the City of Austin’s IT strategy.\nJob Description:\nIT Supervisor Senior\nPurpose:\nUnder general direction, this position performs routine supervisory work, overseeing daily small to medium and moderately complex information technology (IT) operation work groups.\nDuties, Functions and Responsibilities:\nEssential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.\nProvides advanced technical leadership on integrating complex existing or new information system technologies.\nImproves operations, decreases turnaround times, streamlines work processes, and works to provide quality customer service.\nLeads the coordination and participation with other City departments, project teams, and agencies.\nDevelops training programs, guides, and trains staff on work procedures and operating instructions.\nDevelops and prepares management and productivity reports, studies, and analyses.\nPrepares operating budgets and reviews ongoing expenditures.\nDevelops short- and long-range goals and monitors performance results.\nPrepares, reviews, and approves documentation for procurement.\nEnsures compliance with City of Austin personnel, security, and department procedures.\nResearches complex commercial products for possible use.\nResponsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:\nResponsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal.\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\nMust possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.\nKnowledge of budget processes.\nKnowledge of current IT systems and data systems technology, security, operations, and practices.\nKnowledge of management and supervisory principles and practices.\nSkill in organizing work effectively and efficiently.\nSkill in understanding the organization and operation of the city and departments as necessary.\nSkill in conducting hardware and software evaluations, performing selection and acquisition functions.\nAbility to develop, implement, and administer a budget, prepare budget requests, and monitor expenditures for budgetary compliance.\nAbility to read and interpret standard accounting and financial reports.\nAbility to conduct research and analyze and interpret research findings.\nAbility to compile data and prepare narrative and statistical correspondence, reports, and presentations.\nAbility to assign and direct the work activities of assigned personnel.\nAbility to understand complex program structure, strong analysis and problem solving skills.\nAbility to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.\nMinimum Qualifications:\nGraduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university plus two (2) year of leadership or supervisory experience in a field related to the job.\nExperience may substitute for education up to four (4) years.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience managing large scale critical Public Safety or enterprise applications including multiple mission critical departments/customers.\nExperience working in environments with criminal-justice information (CJI), sensitive data, or other highly regulated systems.\nExperience developing, coaching, mentoring, and managing an information technology team. \nNotes to Candidate:\nBackground Check: \nThis position requires a Criminal Background Investigation (CBI).
