Assists in the administrative, technical, and supervisory work in the management and daily operation of the treatment plant and laboratory collection and sampling. Coordinates and supervises work activities of treatment plant personnel. Reports to the Chief Operator\nEssential Job Functions\nProvides training, technical support and guidance in the work activities of treatment plant personnel in lower classifications in treatment processes.\nSupervises the activities of subordinates in their performance of maintenance, repair and operation of water plant and laboratory.\nReviews the work of subordinates for completeness and accuracy; evaluates and make recommendations as appropriate.\nInterprets operating data and institutes minor modifications in operation procedures to assure continuous and efficient treatment; in the event of emergencies; notifies supervisor and places into effect the established corrective procedures to restore operating conditions.\nEnsures safe, effective operations of plant facilities in accordance with related State and Federal regulations.\nAssists with repair and routine maintenance of mechanical, electrical and instrument repair of equipment.\nMaintains accurate and complete records on the plant operation, maintenance and laboratory data.\nOrders and keeps accurate inventory and records of all chemicals used and water treated.\nAssist in the preparation of all regulatory reports.\nAssists in formulating and implementing standard operating procedures, techniques, and rules.\nEnsures safe use of all treatment related supplies.\nParticipates in new worker orientation; provides training and instruction to plant personnel.\nAbility to understand and follow oral and written instructions.\nReports unusual or major problems to the Chief Operator.\n Performs other related work as required. \nMinimum Requirements (Must meet by the closing date of the posting unless otherwise stated)\nRequired Education & Experience:\n Graduation from an accredited High School or GED equivalent. \nThree (3) to Five (5) years of treatment plant experience of which two (2) years must have been in mechanical and electrical repair, preferably in a water or wastewater system environment.\nAt least (1) one year experience working in a supervisory or lead capacity position.\nRequired Certifications & License:\nPossession of a minimum Class \"B\" treatment license in water treatment with the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection.\nPossession of a minimum Class “A” treatment license in water treatment with the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection or the ability to obtain within two (2) years of employment.\nSoutheast Desalting Association (SEDA) Certification in Membrane Technology or the ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment.\n Other Requirements:Possession of a valid Class \"E\" Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.\nMust be physically able to operate a vehicle.\nMust not have driver's license suspensions within five (5) years of submission of an application, unless it was insurance-related.\nAbility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.\nSupplemental Information\n The selection process will include successfully meeting the minimum requirements of each of the following: an oral assessment, background investigation and a medical examination which includes a drug screening test and physical examination. \nIf selected to move forward in the hiring process, you will be required to obtain and submit your lifetime driving history record.\nAll fields must be completed.
