Reports to the Utilities Maintenance Supervisor.\nWhat Makes this Opportunity Special\n Award-winning operations: The Town’s Utilities operations have been recognized by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) under their Plant Operations Excellence Award ProgramClick here to learn more.\n Advanced infrastructure :The Town operates two drinking water treatment plants (including a state-of-the-art reverse osmosis facility drawing from the Floridan Aquifer), showcasing our commitment to advanced, resilient infrastructure Click here to learn more.\nStrategic projects ahead: Be part of a team preparing the Town for future demands through infrastructure upgrades and innovative systems.\nOutstanding benefits package : Enjoy a robust benefit suite .Click here to learn more\nMinimum Requirements (Must meet by the closing date of the posting unless otherwise stated)\nREQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: \nGraduation from high school. \nOne (1) year of experience in various fields of utility maintenance or construction labor work; or closely related field. \nPREFERRED EXPERIENCE : Experience in water distribution and wastewater collection systems and/or operating automotive or other motorized maintenance and construction equipment preferred.\nREQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES :Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. \n Driver's license must not have been suspended within five (5) years of the date of this application (Not Insurance related ).\nAbility to obtain Level \"III\" Water Distribution license from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and Class \"C\" wastewater collection system from a Florida approved agency within three (3) years of employment.\nAbility to obtain, within one (1) year of employment, a Class \"B\" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake and tanker endorsements.\n PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES :Possession of a level \"III\" water distribution license from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and a Class \"C\" wastewater collection system from a Florida approved agency.\nClass \"B\" Commercial Driver's License ( CDL) issued by the State of Florida.\nClass \"B\" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake and tanker endorsements.\nEssential Functions\n Installs, maintains, repairs and replaces water and sewer lines and auxiliary fixtures such as hydrants, meters and valves; repairs adjacent landscape or roadways at completion of project. \n Cleans joints, gaskets and ends of pipes; repairs leaks or breaks on all sizes of water and wastewater lines; clears around holes after repairs. \n Locates and exposes utility services in order to prevent damages to equipment. \n Performs routine maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment; maintains inventory of tools and supplies on service truck. \n Responds to service calls and checks water and sewer lines and fixtures for proper functioning. \n Reads blueprints and engineering schematics to locate water and sewer lines and fixtures; checks water sewer lines for breaks and infiltration through the use of flow meters, dye tests, smoke tests, etc. \n Raises, replaces and repairs meter boxes and valve boxes. \n Answers customer complaints, locates service lines, detects leaks, excavates and repairs service lines. \n Taps new water and sewer lines into existing lines. \n Drives truck and operates high pressure cleaning equipment and/or rodding machine for cleaning manholes and sewer lines. \n Operates backhoe and related heavy equipment used in water and sewer line repair and maintenance. rates air hammer to break asphalt and pavement; repairs asphalt and pavement. \n Operates a variety of pumping equipment and generators. Loads and unloads pipes at storage area and work sites. \n May keep written documentation of work hours performed and materials used. \n Performs other related work as required. \nSupplemental Information\nBenefits:\nHealth Insurance100% paid by the Town for single coverage, 50% paid by the Town for dependents. \n\n Leave: Holidays - 13 days per year.\nSick Leave - 3.69 hours accrued per pay period\nVacation Leave - Accrue 2 weeks per year, accrual rate increases every 5 years (capped at 4 weeks after 10 years of service).\nBirthday Leave - 1 day per year after successfully passing probation\nQuality Service - 1 day per year after successfully passing probation and other conditions.\nWellness Days - 2 days per year after successfully passing probation. \n\nPension/Retirement: Town Sponsored Pension -
