{"id":3802382,"url":"https://alion.io/job/caresource-pharmacy-technician-ii-2","title":"Pharmacy Technician II","company":{"id":2670646,"name":"CareSource","domain":"caresource.com","url":"https://alion.io/company/caresource","size_band":"1001-5000","is_staffing_agency":false,"employer_type":"direct","is_intermediary":false,"listed_via":null,"ats_vendor":"Schema","truth_index":null},"role":"Field & Service","role_family":"Field & Service","seniority":"middle","employment_type":"full_time","work_mode":"on_site","remote_scope":null,"remote_scope_basis":null,"remote_working_hours":null,"hiring_geo_confidence":"structured","locations":["Carson City, United States"],"countries":["US"],"hiring_countries":[],"hiring_countries_total":0,"salary":null,"salary_estimate":null,"experience_years_min":1,"visa_sponsorship":false,"relocation_package":false,"has_equity":false,"technologies":[{"name":"Outlook","optional":false},{"name":"Windows","optional":false}],"status":"live","first_seen_at":"2026-11-04T00:00:00Z","employer_posted_date":"2026-11-05","last_verified_at":"2026-11-06T15:00:04Z","board_verified":true,"closed_at":null,"days_open":2,"trust":{"level":"ok","repost_count":null,"flags":[],"days_open":2},"description":"Job Summary:\nThe Pharmacy Technician II is responsible for data entry and review of submitted authorization requests, providing assistance to providers or pharmacies calling for assistance, and ensuring resolution for escalations received in the pharmacy department.\nEssential Functions:\nReview traditional and specialty medication prior authorization requests for the member’s pharmacy benefit submitted by providers\nSend fax communications to providers when necessary\nContact provider offices to follow up on failed faxes\nEducate CareSource providers about resources outlining formulary alternatives\nPlace prior authorizations for when approval is appropriate in the prior authorization system(s)\nInitiate process for routing prior authorizations requiring review by a pharmacist\nAnswer calls from providers regarding prior authorization requests prescription coverage and formulary issues in a timely manner\nPerform outbound calls to obtain information from providers and/or pharmacies\nDocument all telephonic interaction in appropriate system(s)\nEnsure all methods of inquiries (fax, e-mail, ePA) and submissions are answered with in the state mandated period\nInvolvement in special projects reviewed by the management team when needed\nAnswer calls and troubleshoot issues from retail and specialty pharmacies\nAssist Case Managers, Member and Provider Services with pharmacy issues, overrides, and questions\nMaintain awareness of current workload aging and respond with appropriate sense of urgency\nMaintain knowledge and understanding of all processes and procedures for all markets on faxes and phones\nAdhere to all departmental and company policies and procedures\nPerform any other job duties as requested\nEducation and Experience:\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent years relevant work experience is required\nThree (3) years retail pharmacy or hospital pharmacy experience is preferred\nOne (1) year managed care prior authorization experience is preferred\nCompetencies, Knowledge and Skills:\nComputer proficient with knowledge in a “Windows” environment\nBeginners level Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel\nMust type 40 words per minute (WPM)\nProfessional level telephone communication skills\nFamiliarity with medical terminology\nFamiliarity with medication names\nExcellent communication skills when speaking to providers offices, as well as pharmacies\nAbility to work independently and within a team environment\nAbility to train/teach new employees within the department\nAttention to detail\nFamiliarity of the healthcare field\nKnowledge of Medicaid/Marketplace\nCritical listening and thinking skills\nProper grammar usage\nTime management skills\nProper phone etiquette\nCustomer service oriented\nDecision making/problem solving\nLeadership experience and skills\nLicensure and Certification:\nPharmacy Technician Certification is preferred\nAbility to acquire state registration in multiple states, as required\nWorking Conditions:\nGeneral office environment; may be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time\nPosition requires the ability to work any shift between 7am and 9pm and the flexibility to work weekends and overtime, as needed\n$35,900.00 - $57,300.00 CareSource takes into consideration a combination of a candidate’s education, training, and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required for the role, and other external and internal data when establishing a salary level.
