IT Operations Engineer

Task Responsibilities:

Own and evolve monitoring, alerting and operational dashboards using tools such as Checkmk, Grafana, Nagios, or similar platforms.

Administer and maintain Linux and Windows environments, planning and executing regular patching and updates to ensure secure and supported platforms.

Coordinate middleware patching and updates, ensuring minimal disruption and clear communication.

Partner with cybersecurity and infrastructure teams to implement and enforce security best practices across Linux and Windows systems and environments.

Independently drive and coordinate IT projects, including system migrations and operational improvement initiatives, from planning through execution.

Identify, design and implement automation opportunities using scripting or tooling to reduce manual effort and operational risk.

Manage and resolve incidents and service requests related to IT systems and middleware and operational applications, ensuring stability and timely resolution.

Ensure continuous availability of business-critical systems through participation in a structured on-call rotation and escalation process.

Essential Requirements For The Position:

Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.

Proven experience (approximately 5-7 years) in IT Operations, IT Support, or a comparable role, with the ability to work independently on complex systems and initiatives.

Hands-on experience with infrastructure monitoring and observability tools such as Checkmk, Grafana, Nagios, Datadog, Zabbix, or similar platforms.

Strong understanding of monitoring and observability principles, including metrics, logs, traces, alerting thresholds and anomaly detection.

Experience with IT systems patch management, including tools such as Ansible.

Scripting experience using PowerShell and Bash / Shell.

Solid technical knowledge of IT infrastructure environments and security best practices.

Experience contributing to or leading end-to-end IT projects, including planning, execution and coordination with multiple stakeholders.

Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, adapting the message to the context.

Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; knowledge of German and/or French is considered an advantage.

Microsoft and/or Red Hat certifications are considered an asset.

Knowledge of Microsoft Azure is highly appreciated (Azure Fundamentals or Azure Administrator level).

Experience in the airline industry is considered an advantage.

Working Conditions:

Full-time permanent position based in Luxembourg.

The candidate will work in a Agile, friendly, innovative & operational Azure only environment.

Normal office hours are to be expected, with occasional work outside these hours to perform tasks (planned or unplanned) on the environment.

The position holder might have to be on stand-by outside the normal office hours and weekends in case of incidents. It is expected that during critical incidents the candidate can commit to resolving the incident to the end if required.

Valid car drivers license.

Be willing to travel as required by our international organization (more than 50 different countries).

A Certificate of good conduct (casier judiciaire, Polizeiliches Führungszeugnis) will be required in case of positive selection.

The internal title of the position would be Engineer IT Systems and Middleware Support.
