If you're passionate about meaningful work and want to be part of something bigger than yourself, Caris is where your impact begins.\nPosition Summary\nThe Senior Facilities Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair, and reliability of building systems supporting regulated laboratory, warehouse, and office environments across multiple locations. This position performs preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, inspections, repairs, and environmental monitoring to ensure facilities operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable requirements.\nThe role serves as a technical resource for the Facilities team and works closely with internal stakeholders, Property Management, contractors, and vendors to support reliable facility operations and business needs.\nJob Responsibilities\nOperate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility systems and equipment, including HVAC, BMS/BAS controls, plumbing, electrical, lighting, security, pumps, motors, valves, and other mechanical systems.\n\nMaintain appropriate environmental conditions within regulated laboratories, warehouse/operations areas, and general office spaces.\n\nPerform and document preventive maintenance (PM), corrective maintenance (CM), inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs in accordance with established procedures and safety requirements.\n\nMonitor BMS/BAS systems, respond to alarms, troubleshoot equipment and control issues, and support reliable operation of environmental control systems.\n\nDocument maintenance, repairs, inspections, and other assigned work accurately and timely within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).\n\nIdentify recurring equipment issues and recommend improvements to preventive maintenance programs and facility reliability.\n\nPerform general building maintenance, including minor plumbing, carpentry, drywall repair, painting, furniture moves, shelving installation, and office modifications.\n\nCoordinate staff moves and workspace reconfigurations as needed.\n\nCoordinate and oversee contractors, vendors, janitorial services, and Property Management activities; verify work completion, service documentation, and invoices.\n\nSupport facility safety and compliance inspections, including testing assigned safety equipment and maintaining required inspection logs.\n\nProvide technical guidance and mentoring to Facilities technicians as needed.\n\nPartner with laboratory leadership, Quality, and other stakeholders to support facility requirements and business operations.\n\nFollow applicable OSHA, environmental, health, safety, and hazardous material handling requirements and maintain a clean and safe work environment.\n\nTravel between assigned locations and provide after-hours/on-call support for facility and environmental control system emergencies.\n\nPerform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nHigh School diploma or GED\n\nValid driver's license.\n\nFive (5) or more years of related facilities maintenance experience, preferably supporting regulated or critical environments.\n\nThree (3) or more years of experience operating and troubleshooting Building Management Systems (BMS/BAS) and related controls.\n\nEPA CFC Universal Certification.\n\nHands-on experience with HVAC and working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and general building systems.\n\nExperience performing and documenting preventive and corrective maintenance within a CMMS.\n\nStrong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.\n\nAbility to coordinate contractors and vendors and work effectively with internal stakeholders.\n\nProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience supporting cleanrooms, laboratories, life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or other critical environments.\n\nAbility to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) drawings and blueprints.\n\nKnowledge of building automation, HVAC controls, environmental monitoring, and preventive maintenance programs.\n\nExperience providing technical guidance or mentoring to other Facilities technicians.\n\nPhysical Demands\nMust possess ability to sit, stand, and/or work at a computer for long periods of time.\n\nAbility to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.\n\nMay be exposed to extreme temperatures, elevated noise levels, fumes, blood-borne pathogens, biohazardous materials, and chemicals, including formalin, within laboratory environments.\n\nMust be able to safely work in mechanical, laboratory, warehouse, and office environments.\n\nTraining\nAll job specific, safety, and compliance training are assigned based on the job functions associated with this employee.\n\nOther\nThis position requires periodic travel between work locations and may require a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
