Do meaningful work and shape the future of building solutions; apply today and come grow with us.\n Job Summary\nThe Local CDL Driver is responsible for the safe driving and delivery of customer materials within a 100-mile radius from the assigned facility. Duties include, but are not limited to, driving the company truck to deliver orders to customers, the loading and unloading of materials, and duties assigned in the facility. This position may also assist in the warehouse when not driving.\nThis position is regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and designated as safety sensitive by the company. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is required. This position must have the ability to accept responsibility for their own safety, as well as the safety of others.\nDuties and Responsibilities: \nDrive and operate a Class A flatbed truck with a 48’ bed; Automatic with day cab\nDeliver orders/materials/product to customers, both internal and external, while following DOT and internal safety rules using the company truck.\nLoading and unloading of company truck and securing loads.\nManeuver heavy materials with the use of a forklift, pallet jack, and/or hand truck.\nAssist in warehouse as needed.\nComply with company and DOT policies and procedures giving special attention to safety regulations.\nComplete pre-trip inspections, know how to maintain a legal and accurate logbook, retain fuel and toll receipts, maintain cleanliness of truck cab, document and log work/rest periods, and complete post-trip inspections.\nCheck gauges and visual indicators for malfunctions, ensure locks on trailers are working properly, and conduct inspection of vehicle before and during trips to determine problems that may be occurring and promptly report all problems to supervisor.\nOther duties as assigned.\n Working Conditions:\nMonday - Friday, 1st shift. \nThis position spends most of the time (90%) outside of the facility.\nPersonal protective equipment is regularly required for this position and may include steel or composite toe boots, safety glasses, and cut-resistant gloves and arm guards.\nPhysical Requirements:\nAccording to ADA regulations, reasonable accommodation will be provided to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.\nFrequency scale: Occasionally (0-30%) | Frequently (31-60%) | Continuously (61-100%)\nPersonal Protective Equipment (PPE) Used:\nPersonal Protective Equipment is regularly required for this position which includes steel or composite toe boots, safety glasses, cut-resistant gloves and arm guards, and hearing protection.\n\n Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:\nHave a valid commercial motor vehicle operator’s license issued by one state or jurisdiction.\nA Class A Commercial Driver’s License (operating a CMV with a gross combination weight rating of 26,001 or more pounds and towing a trailer of 10,001 pounds or more).\nA Class B Commercial Driver’s License (operating a power unit with a GVWR of 26,001 or pounds without a trailer).\nIs not disqualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle under the rules in 49 CFR 391.15.\nAbility to speak and read English to converse with the public, understand traffic signs and signals, respond to official questions, and make legible entries on reports and records.\nDrive the vehicle safely.\nCurrently hold, or ability to obtain, a non-excepted interstate DOT medical card.\nPass a driver’s road test or equivalent.\nMust be comfortable with making local deliveries with multiple stops.\nNo more than two (2) moving violations while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.\nNo serious traffic violations while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) year.Speeding 15 mph or more over the speed limit.\nReckless driving.\nImproper or erratic lane change.\nFollowing too closely.\nDriving a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) without a CDL or without a CDL in possession.\nDriving a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) without the proper class license and or endorsements.\nTexting or using a hand-held mobile device while driving a CMV.\nViolating state or local laws relating to motor vehicle traffic control arising in connection with a fatal accident.\n\nNo preventable accidents while operating a CMV in the last three (3) years.\nNo preventable DOT recordable accidents (collisions resulting in disabling damage and/or immediate medical treatment away from the scene) while operating a CMV in the last five (5) years.\nNo preventable accident resulting in a fatality or catastrophic injury in driving history (commercial motor vehicle).\nNo positive or refused drug or alcohol test in the previous five (5) years and must have fully completed a DOT recognized Substance Abuse Program, as well as return to duty testing and all prescribed follow-up testing for said violation.\nMust currently live within 60 miles of the assigned facility or willing to establish a residence within 60 miles by 90 days from date of hire. Permanent residence is defined as “your main, and regular residence (home) at a fixed address”. It is the location you report to the government (W2, tax returns, census, passport, etc.) as your “home”.
