This role partners with CarMax stores, customers, internal departments, and external business partners to gather documentation, research account details, process payments, and facilitate refund activities. You will also enter new accounts into CAMs, support Collections Analysts with required information, resolve email inquiries, and assist with general ledger tasks. This is where innovation meets passion - be inspired and supported to take us to the future.\nTeam Overview\nThe Accounts Receivable Collections team focuses on initiating and resolving receivable accounts, supporting customer communication, and maintaining accurate documentation to assist Collections Analysts and broader accounting operations. This role strengthens end-to-end collections processes and contributes to reliable receivable management.\nRole Responsibilities\nResearch new collection items and gather documentation needed to enter accounts into CAMs, including manually keying exception items.\nExecute daily incoming payment processes to ensure accurate fulfillment of receivables.\nPerform general ledger tasks, including journal entries and account reconciliations.\nFacilitate refund workflows for customer refunds and contract repurchases; process vendor invoices as required.\nProvide effective communication and support to CarMax stores, retail customers, internal departments, and external business partners.\nInitiate written correspondence with customers related to collection efforts.\nSupport projects and complete additional responsibilities as needed.\nRequired Qualifications\nMakes thoughtful, timely decisions and adapts quickly when needed.\nApplies logical thinking and experience to resolve issues, using resources and engaging Accounting Leadership or SMEs appropriately.\nBalances and prioritizes multiple responsibilities effectively.\nCommunicates clearly with internal and external partners in written and verbal formats.\nUses available tools and sound judgment to make practical decisions.\nBuilds strong relationships, supports customer needs, and adapts well to change.\nHigh school diploma or equivalent; 2+ years business experience (including 1+ year Accounts Receivable); proficient Excel skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in business\nAccount reconciliation experience\nUnderstanding of basic accounting concepts\nProficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook\nExperience with a cloud ERP solution (e.g., Oracle)\nAbout CarMax\nAt CarMax, we revolutionized the used car buying experience over 30 years ago by introducing transparency and integrity into the process.
