Last year, CarMax sold over 1 million vehicles and appraised over 2 million vehicles, and Pricing directed over $20B in spend to purchase inventory. Doing so ensures that we have the right cars at the right prices to meet our customers’ needs. As we continue to innovate our customer experience and focus on the buying and selling experience our customers want, we increasingly need to make these decisions quickly at scale. Our team of data scientists and analysts plays a critical role in unlocking the business value from these innovations.\nAs a Senior Manager of Pricing Analytics, you will work with data scientists and analysts on the Supply Chain Strategy team and with business partners/stakeholders to make key recommendations and drive improvements to ensure our pricing and buying decisions are optimized to support sales growth.\nWhat You Will Do - Essential Responsibilities\nCreate and actively promote an environment of associate development across the Pricing team, while also driving team engagement\n\nPartner with business leaders to drive execution by leveraging your team to identify KPIs, set measurable goals, and create management systems to deliver results\nEnsure that the model is tuned to current market conditions by identifying times when immediate strategy changes are needed (ex: gas prices spiking)\n\nBuild and execute a management system to ensure that the model is delivering intended values (alert system, regular review meetings…)\n\nQuickly respond to and resolve pricing system issues regardless of time of day/week\n\nLead data scientists on the team in leveraging models to drive tangible business value\n\nInfluence strategic direction of company by providing analytical evaluation and strategic thoughtfulness to key problems and by working to gain buy-in across entire organization\n\nPresent insights and recommendations to key stakeholders to achieve consensus for change\n\nQualifications and Requirements\nAbility to consistently deliver at a high level on the responsibilities listed above. Requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge and skills required:\n6+ years’ experience in an analytical or strategic role\n\nFour-year undergraduate degree with strong academic performance (MBA or Masters in an analytical field is a plus)\n\nAnalytic mindset, with experience conducting large scale data analysis to support conclusions (preferably with SQL or Python experience)\n\nAbility, willingness, and enthusiasm to manage a team of passionate data scientists and analysts who are regularly shaping strategy at a big-picture and a detailed level\n\nAbility to communicate complex topics to influence executive thinking and improve execution and innovation\n\nWork Location and Arrangement: This role will be based out of the CarMax Home Office - West Creek (Richmond, VA) and will be on-site 4 days a week.\nWork Authorization: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
