Our Tanner, AL location is an integrated mill manufacturing high-quality premium and ultra-premium forged bar and billet products from melt to ship.\nJOB TITLE: MACHINIST II\nPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE MACHINIST II\nCapable of learning and operating several work centers safely within the machinist area based on instructions from the leadership team with moderate supervision/guidance. \nPerform the machining of test specimens and parts as instructed. \nOperate manual and CNC equipment such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders. \nDaily simple maintenance and cleaning of assigned equipment. \nInform supervision of all safety and quality concerns as needed. \nPerform all other duties/projects assigned, including the possibility to move outside of the machinist area to support business needs. \nREQUIRED FOR THE MACHINIST II\nHigh school diploma or GED required. Vocational school or Machinist Apprenticeship preferred. \nTwo or more years of experience. \nWorking knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures. \nWorking knowledge of shop mathematics, machinability of materials, and layout techniques. \nUnderstand safe operation of all equipment needed to perform the job. \nExperience with Okuma, Kellenberger, DCM, Toyoda, Hurco, Mitsubishi, Okamoto, Jones and Shipman preferred. \nCNC programming preferred.\nBasic knowledge of continuous improvement concepts. \nResponds to customer needs; seeks guidance on issues outside own area. \nPrioritizes and organizes own work to meet agreed upon deadlines. \nWorks with others within own area or department to achieve team goals through expanded knowledge and skills. \nAbility to operate a personal computer and the related hardware and software, to lift and move test coupons weighing up to 50 lbs, to be a team player and promote continuous improvement, to work in a production-oriented environment, and to work with direct supervision. \nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.
