Building on its history of innovation, Carpenter Technology’s wrought and powder technology capabilities support a range of next-generation products and manufacturing techniques, including novel magnetic materials and additive manufacturing.\nPRINCIPAL METALLURGIST - TECHNOLOGY\nPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE PRINCIPAL METALLURGIST - TECHNOLOGY:\nProvides a diversified range of technical services to our internal and external customers supporting the attainment of Company and division goals. \nResponsible for making disposition of referred, non-conforming and off-standard material, including but not limited to RMRs and customer claims. \nResponsible for providing training and education to key customers. \nProvides leadership to less-experienced staff. \nProvides support, leadership and guidance to peers, customers and manager in key projects and opportunities. \nLeads others in the use of statistical methods and experimental design. \nManages functional project teams to address and solve complex technical problems and recognize business trends for alloy and process development, including project planning and budget compliance. \nRecognizes and communicates technical risk to management. Applies SPC, six-sigma and/or BPI tools to detect project inefficiencies.\nPerforms all other duties and special projects as assigned.\nREQUIRED FOR THEPRINCIPAL METALLURGIST - TECHNOLOGY:\nBachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering, Materials Science or related field required.\n8 or more years relevant experience required. \nPREFERRED FOR THE PRINCIPAL METALLURGIST - TECHNOLOGY\nBusiness/Functional Expertise: Interprets internal/external business issues and recommends best practices in own function. Has developed depth and breadth of expertise in own function.\nProject Management: Effectively manages projects or teams, including coordination of resources outside of own area.
