I challenge my team to find continuous improvement opportunities to advance training, quality, and safety in the mill.\nWhat Do We Do?\nBusiness Unit: Technical Skills Training\nThe Technical Skills Department provides significant value to the business through training, quality support, and safety initiatives. We develop, distribute, and facilitate training programs for employees across Carpenter. We support the Quality Department by creating and maintaining documentation and assisting with mill audits. Additionally, we partner with the Safety Department to ensure employees are trained on company policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.\nOngoing Projects\nCreating and editing documents (SOPs, SSWPs, TIs, DGs,etc).\nLearning systems (mainframe, lotus notes, sharepoint, etc).\nUnderstanding processes and flow paths in the mill.\nYour Role as an Intern\nYou will be a part of a dynamic team, supporting the following tasks:\nCreation and Editing SSWP\nCreation and Editing SOP\nEditing Lockouts\nUploading created documents for approval\nTransferring Lotus Notes Documents into Word format and uploaded to SharePoint\nOur interns play a major role in making sure that Carpenter has the documentation (safe, standard work, work instructions, etc...) that are needed for the Mill to operate safely and efficiently.\nOur Value Proposition -\nThis position will allow you to develop and build expertise in the following core skills:\nAdaptability - You will track, prioritize, and drive multiple concurrent projects to success, while working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.\nProblem Solving - Develop your critical thinking and analytical skills to assess safety in the manufacturing environment, recommend solutions or next steps, and identify best practices to achieve the value of ZERO injuries. \nActive Learner- Ability and appetite to learn quickly is critical as you expand your knowledge and build your skill sets.\nCommunication - Create effective verbal and written communications in and across project teams. Organize and present results to small and large audiences throughout the organization.\nCollaboration - You will work closely with multiple departments and teams on the manufacturing floor, requiring strong partnership skills.\nWhat Do We Require?\nYou must be:\nCurrently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program majoring in Engineering\nIdeal candidates will be self-motivated and a team-players\nMinimum 3.0 GPA\nWilling and able to work on-site at our Reading, PA location.\nApplicants MUST be US Citizens or Green Card Holders due to Carpenter’s government contracts.\nPay Range\nHourly rates are based on: 1 - Program of study; 2 - Degree type (i.e., Bachelor’s); 3 - Progression in degree (i.e., 1st year, 2nd year, etc.). The range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00 per hour.\nCommuting/Housing Assistance (If Eligible)\nInterns who must commute to work from outside the immediate Reading, PA area (over 50 miles one-way), will be paid a one-time lump sum payment of $2,400 (less applicable taxes) as excessive commute allowance. Interns who choose to temporarily relocate from outside the immediate Reading, PA area (moving over 50 miles one-way), will be paid a one-time lump sum payment of $4,800 (less applicable taxes) as a housing allowance.
