This role supports laboratory operations through mechanical, metallographic, magnetic, and heat-treat testing while ensuring accurate data collection and documentation. The ideal candidate will have prior manufacturing, laboratory, or metallurgical experience and the ability to work independently with moderate supervision in a production-oriented environment.\nWhat You'll Do:\nPrepare material samples for metallurgical analysis and examination. \nPerform a variety of mechanical tests, including hardness, tensile, tension, and resistivity testing. \nConduct metallographic testing utilizing etchants, polishing equipment, and metallographic laboratory equipment. \nCollect, analyze, and accurately record test data and evaluation results. \nEnter and maintain test results within company systems and databases. \nOperate and maintain general metallurgical and laboratory equipment. \nSupport laboratory operations within Mechanical Testing, Preparation, Metallographic Testing, Magnetic Testing, or Heat Treating areas. \nTroubleshoot routine testing issues using established procedures and processes. \nCollaborate with team members to achieve safety, quality, and productivity goals. \nComplete additional duties and special projects as assigned. \nRequired Qualifications:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent experience as determined by department management. \nOne or more years of relevant manufacturing, laboratory, testing, or metallurgical experience. \nAbility to work in a production-oriented environment. \nWorking knowledge of metallurgical principles, standards, methods, and laboratory practices. \nAbility to operate general metallurgical and laboratory equipment. \nStrong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines. \nStrong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. \nEffective verbal and written communication skills. \nAbility to work independently with moderate supervision. \nDemonstrated ability to solve routine to moderately complex problems using established processes. \nPreferred Qualifications:\nAssociate degree or technical training in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Manufacturing Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field. \nExperience performing mechanical, metallographic, magnetic, or heat treatment testing. \nExperience in an industrial manufacturing, quality, or laboratory environment. \nFamiliarity with sample preparation techniques and metallurgical analysis. \nExperience using laboratory information systems, databases, or manufacturing software. \nForklift certification or material handling experience. \nExperience interpreting specifications, testing procedures, and quality standards. \nDemonstrated commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement. \nCarpenter Technology Company offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package including life, medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, disability coverage, 401k with company contributions as well as many other options to employees.\nCarpenter Technology Corporation’s policy is to fully and effectively maintain a program of equal employment opportunity and nondiscrimination for all employees, to employ affirmative action for all protected classes, and to recruit and develop the best qualified persons available regardless of age, race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status, national origin, political affiliation or any other characteristic protected by law.
