This role will ensure requirements from relevant specifications are communicated, planned for, and complied with across Carrier’s HVAC product portfolio.\nSchedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, day shift.\nWork Arrangement: Onsite presence required at one of the following Carrier locations:\nEast Syracuse, NY\nPalm Beach Gardens, FL\nIndianapolis, IN\nCharlotte, NC\nResponsibilities\nMonitor, interpret, and maintain expertise in HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) and controls-related codes, standards, regulations, and certification requirements, including those published by ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers), AHRI (Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute), UL (Underwriters Laboratories), NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), ICC (International Code Council), CSA (Canadian Standards Association), ISO (International Organization for Standardization), IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), California Title 20 and 24, and other assigned governing bodies.\nEvaluate existing and proposed codes and standards to quantify and communicate potential impacts on product design, system performance, safety, compliance, market access, and product roadmaps.\nRepresent the company on industry committees, technical working groups, and standards development organizations to influence emerging codes and align standards development with strategic company objectives.\nCollaborate with engineering, product management, quality, manufacturing, and compliance teams to ensure products meet applicable regulatory requirements and prevent compliance-related launch delays.\nProvide technical guidance, code interpretations, and training to internal stakeholders, customers, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies to promote organizational awareness and address compliance inquiries.\nLead compliance assessments, gap analyses, and technical documentation reviews for new products, product modifications, and emerging technologies.\nDevelop and maintain product compliance strategies, internal engineering guidelines, and standard operating procedures that support current and future regulatory requirements across target markets.\nSupport third-party product certification activities, including test execution, documentation preparation, agency submissions, and audits.\nTrack legislative and regulatory developments affecting HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) equipment and controls, energy efficiency, refrigerants, IAQ (Indoor Air Quality), sustainability, and building safety.\nPrepare comprehensive technical reports, compliance matrices, code interpretations, and regulatory impact assessments for engineering and leadership teams.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree with 7+ years of experience in HVAC engineering, regulatory, or codes and standards, -or- Master’s degree with 5+ years of experience in HVAC engineering, regulatory, or codes and standards.\nWilling and able to travel up to 20%, domestic and international.\nPreferred Qualifications\nKnowledge of HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems, thermodynamics, controls, and building systems.\nExpertise in ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) standards, model building codes, safety standards, and sustainability initiatives.\nAbility to interpret technical regulations and translate requirements into engineering actions.\nExcellent analytical, communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.\nExperience working with certification agencies, testing laboratories, and regulatory bodies.\nStrong project management and cross-functional leadership capabilities.\nAbility to evaluate emerging technologies and their regulatory and compliance implications.\nExperience in testing and qualification of HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) equipment.\nPay Range\nThe annual salary for this position is between $96,000.00 - $192,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.
