Manages services, costs, and architecture to support evolving business needs.\nJob Description: Senior Cloud Architect - P5\nRole Description\nThe Senior Cloud Architect sets and evolves the architectural direction for Carrier’s cloud platform across AWS, GCP, and Azure. This role works horizontally across our product portfolio to ensure we build solutions that are consistently secure, resilient, and cost effective. The architect defines reference architectures, design patterns, and guardrails, then partners with Product Leads, Security, FinOps, and customer teams to put them into practice through Infrastructure as Code and automation. The result is a coherent, well-governed cloud foundation that product teams can build on with confidence.\nKey Responsibilities\nDefine and evolve reference architectures and design patterns across AWS, GCP, and Azure covering compute, storage, networking, identity, and data services that product teams reuse.\nEstablish architectural standards and guardrails for security, resilience, and cost efficiency, and ensure they are applied consistently across the product portfolio.\nTranslate architectural decisions into Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines so designs are repeatable, versioned, and easy to adopt.\nLead architecture reviews and provide technical direction on design trade-offs, with a focus on security posture, reliability, and total cost of ownership.\nPartner with Security to embed controls into platform designs, including identity and access management, encryption, network segmentation, and policy-as-code guardrails.\nPartner with FinOps to design cost-aware architectures, set tagging and accountability standards, and build cost efficiency into solutions from the start rather than as an afterthought.\nPartner with Enterprise Architecture leaders to establish architecture patterns and best practices across the Enterprise.\nDefine standards for observability and operational readiness so that solutions are monitored, supportable, and resilient in production.\nServe as a trusted technical advisor to product teams, mentoring engineers and guiding them in adopting standardized cloud patterns and best practices.\nRequired Qualifications\n10+ years in cloud or infrastructure engineering, with at least 6 years in a cloud architecture role designing solutions on AWS and/or GCP.\nDeep, hands-on understanding of core cloud services across compute, storage, networking, identity, and data, with the ability to design solutions that are secure, resilient, and cost effective.\nProven experience defining reference architectures, design patterns, and guardrails that multiple teams adopt and reuse.\nProficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/OpenTofu) and version control (GitHub), including how to structure code for reuse across teams.\nDeep expertise in cloud security fundamentals, including identity and access management, encryption, and policy-as-code approaches to governance.\nProven ability to document, communicate, and govern complex designs, and to influence technical direction across multiple teams.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience architecting across multiple cloud providers in a large enterprise spanning multiple business units and geographies.\nFamiliarity with FinOps practices and cloud cost management tooling, and a track record of building cost efficiency into architectural decisions.\nExposure to cloud governance frameworks such as AWS Control Tower or GCP Organization Policies, and to policy-as-code tooling.\nProfessional certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect Professional or Google Professional Cloud Architect.\nExperience mentoring engineers and influencing architectural direction across large enterprise organizations.\nBenefits\nWe are committed to offering competitive benefits programs for all of our employees, and enhancing our programs when necessary.\nMake yourself a priority with flexible schedules, parental leave \nDrive forward your career through professional development opportunities \nAchieve your personal goals with our Employee Assistance Programme \nOur commitment to you\nOur greatest assets are the expertise, creativity and passion of our employees.
