You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of cloud and firmware engineers to develop and improve software products deployed in commercial buildings which aim to cut down significantly on energy consumption due to HVAC infrastructure while maintaining the highest level of occupants’ comfort and productivity.\nKey Responsibilities \nArchitect, develop, and deliver high-quality software, code, and algorithms for full-stack Java and Android-based solutions, ensuring end-to-end code quality. \nDesign, implement, test, and deliver new features for the Android gateway application that runs Smart Building algorithms and connects to the cloud. \nDevelop and integrate embedded platform services, middleware, device interfaces, and hardware abstraction components across Android and Embedded Linux systems. \nAnalyze system performance using benchmarking, profiling, and instrumentation, and implement optimizations. \nIncorporate software quality attributes into architecture, design, development, and delivery activities. \nContribute to and review software methodologies, product designs, models, and technical documentation. \nCollaborate with developers and architects across time zones and international sites in a scaled agile environment. \nPartner with the product manager and test lead to develop user stories, refine acceptance criteria, and define test designs. \nInvestigate and resolve field issues in existing products through thorough system impact analysis, diagnostics, and debugging. \nEnsure secure coding practices are followed throughout development. \nRequired Qualifications \nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical or Electronic Engineering \n10+ years of hands-on professional experience designing and developing applications and algorithms in Java and Kotlin for Android/Linux platforms, including 5+ years of Kotlin experience. \n10+ years of embedded software development and platform architecture experience. \n10+ years of architecture and development experience with Embedded Linux and Android, including Android OS root/system-level development, device drivers, and Android tablet hardware integration. \nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in the HVAC domain and Internet of Things (IoT) applications. \nExperience with embedded platform services, middleware, device interfaces, hardware abstraction, and cross-platform libraries. \nExperience in system performance analysis, benchmarking, profiling, instrumentation, and optimization. \nPractical experience with SDLC tools such as Git and Azure DevOps. \nStrong communication and collaboration skills in a global team environment. \nSelf-motivated, committed to continuous learning, and able to adapt to a fast-paced startup environment \nExperience with the Android platform, middleware, framework, native services, HAL, NDK, JNI, and AIDL; working knowledge of Android architecture layers (Linux Kernel, HAL, Runtime, Framework, Applications). \nExperience with Linux internals, including processes, threads, IPC, scheduling, memory, storage, networking, and system services. \nExperience with embedded-device observability, telemetry, health monitoring, diagnostics, logging, and remote debugging. \nExperience with embedded platform security, including secure boot, keys, certificates, signing, TPM/TEE, secure updates, and network security. \nExperience with the Android SDK, different Android versions, Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices. \nExperience with the open-source Android ecosystem and common libraries; familiarity with RESTful APIs connecting Android applications to back-end services. \nExperience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning. \nExperience with Java build and package management tools such as Gradle and Maven. \nExperience with testing libraries and automation frameworks such as JUnit, Espresso, and Robolectric, including hands-on application testing across multiple devices and form factors. \nExperience with continuous delivery for mobile applications, including test-driven or behavior-driven development, code reviews, static analysis, continuous integration, automation, and functional testing. \nPay Range\nThe annual salary for this position is between $96,000.00 - $192,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.
