We deploy Ignition SCADA, Rockwell Automation PLCs, and open industrial protocols to provide deep, trustworthy visibility into mechanical plants, electrical distribution, and power quality without locking customers into brittle or opaque architectures. We are seeking senior-level PLC/SCADA Engineer who brings strong technical judgment, systems thinking, and the ability to design solutions that keep working years after handoff.\nScope of Position:\nAs a Senior PLC/SCADA Controls Engineer, you will serve as a technical authority for data center automation and electrical power monitoring systems. You will lead the design of Ignition-based data center SCADA platforms integrated with Rockwell PLC control systems, electrical power monitoring devices, and third-party subsystems. You will influence how systems are designed, modeled, how data flows, and how operators interact with critical infrastructure across single sites and multi-site portfolios.\nThis role carries technical ownership, cross-disciplinary influence, and mentorship expectations. You are someone others come to when the system behavior matters, not just whether it “works.”\nKey Responsibilities:\nPLC System Design & Development\nDevelop and maintain PLC applications utilizing Rockwell Automation platforms including:ControlLogix\nCompactLogix\nGuardLogix (where applicable)\nRemote I/O architectures\n\nDesign scalable control architectures for:Chiller managers\nChiller lineup controllers\nPumping systems\nThermal energy storage systems\nHVAC and process cooling applications\n\nCreate reusable software standards, Add-On Instructions (AOIs), and programming templates.\nDevelop and maintain PLC documentation, functional descriptions, and sequence of operation implementations.\nSCADA & Ignition Development\nDevelop supervisory applications using Ignition by Inductive Automation.\nConfigure:OPC UA communications\nUDT libraries\nTag structures\nAlarm strategies\nHistorical data collection\nDashboard and visualization interfaces\n\nSupport deployment of enterprise-scale SCADA systems for monitoring and control of critical infrastructure.\nImplement standardized naming conventions and scalable tag models.\nIndustrial Networking & Communications\nDesign and troubleshoot industrial Ethernet networks.\nConfigure communications utilizing:EtherNet/IP\nBACnet/IP\nModbus TCP\nOPC UA\n\nSupport managed switches, VLANs, routing, and redundant network architectures.\nIntegrate third-party equipment including chillers, VFDs, power monitoring devices, UPS systems, generators, CRAHs, CDUs, and metering systems.\nSystem Integration\nDevelop integration strategies for mechanical and electrical systems.\nCoordinate with equipment vendors to validate communications and operational sequences.\nPerform point mapping, protocol validation, and interface testing.\nSupport cybersecurity and OT network requirements.\nTesting & Commissioning\nSupport:Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)\nSite Acceptance Testing (SAT)\nIntegrated Systems Testing (IST)\nFunctional Performance Testing (FPT)\n\nTroubleshoot controls, network, and field device issues during startup and commissioning.\nCreate commissioning procedures and checkout documentation.\nSupport field technicians and commissioning providers during project execution.\nTechnical Leadership\nProvide technical guidance and mentoring to entry-level and mid-level engineers.\nParticipate in design reviews and software quality reviews.\nIdentify project risks early and recommend mitigation strategies.\nSupport customer-facing technical discussions and design workshops.\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree with 4+ years of HVAC/Building Automation experience OR Associate Degree with 6+ years of HVAC/Building Automation experience OR High School Diploma OR GED with 8+ years of HVAC/Building Automation experience. \n4+ years of experience designing and supporting SCADA and control systems in live facilities \n4+ years of Rockwell Automation PLC experience with ControlLogix / CompactLogix platforms\nAbility to travel up to 25%\nMust have unrestricted authorization to work in the USA. No visa sponsoring available.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nIgnition SCADA (Inductive Automation) at scale UDT-driven designs \nAlarm pipelines and strategy \nGateway configuration, redundancy, and performance tuning \n\nData center or other mission-critical infrastructure experience, including: Central utility plants \nElectrical power distribution and monitoring \nRedundant system architectures \nStrong understanding of industrial Ethernet and OT networking \n\nExperience integrating third-party electrical devicesChillers\nCRACS/CRAHS\nPower Quality Meters\nBreakers\nUPS\nGenerators \n\nExperience designing and implementing HVAC/Building Automation control systems.\nStrong Rockwell Automation expertise including Studio 5000, ControlLogix and CompactLogix.\nExperience with PLC programming fundamentals:\nAbility to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to engineers, operators, and stakeholders \nPay Range\nThe annual salary for this position is between $79,000.00 - $158,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.
