In this role you will help develop advanced heat exchanger solutions for Carrier’s global HVAC&R portfolio. The candidate’s primary responsibility will be to evaluate heat transfer technologies through component and system testing, supported by modeling tools, to advance product development. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams and partners to drive innovation and improve Carrier products’ performance, cost, and reliability.\nKey Responsibilities:\nLead technology development programs and deliver on-time solutions to customers.\nSupport new product development programs and contribute to the design heat exchangers and other thermo-fluid components.\nSupport benchmarking, development, validation, and implementation of advanced heat exchanger technologies through component and system level testing.\nDevelop physics/data based thermo-hydraulic models for modeling tools.\nApply state-of-the-art design and simulation tools to optimize heat exchanger performance.\nInnovate, develop, validate, and deploy new heat exchanger technologies for Carrier’s current and growing range of products.\nWork with cross functional product development teams to ensure successful insertion of new designs into Carrier products.\nAssist in developing state-of-the-art design and simulation tools; plan and conduct bench top experiments for calibration and validation of modeling tools.\nProvide support to product engineering teams to ensure proper application of new heat transfer technologies throughout the product development cycle.\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree with 4+ years thermal systems engineering experience\nOr\nMaster’s degree with 3+ years thermal systems engineering experience\nPreferred Qualifications:\nPhD degree.\nKnowledge of the fundamentals of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics as well as heat transfer and heat exchanger design.\nUnderstanding in two-phase flow and heat transfer including boiling and condensation.\nExperience in mechanical and thermal design using numerical and analytical models; CFD/FEA familiarity is a plus.\nExperience in computer programming language e.g., Python, EES and MATLAB.\nGood communication and organization skills.\nAbility to solve problems independently and complete assignments in a timely manner.\nAbility to work collaboratively in a team environment.\nAbility to creatively overcome obstacles to achieve project objectives.\nPay Range\nThe annual salary for this position is between $79,000.00 - $158,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. The pay range will not be below the minimum wage applicable to the jurisdiction in which the applicant is to be employed.Other Compensation\nThis position may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
