For more information, visit corporate.carrier.com or follow on Carrier social media at @Carrier.\nAbout this role\nWe are seeking a Staff Lab Technician to join our Compression Engineering team at our R&D center located in Syracuse, New York.\nResponsibilities include setup, maintenance, and operation of compressor performance and reliability test stands in a laboratory setting.\nAbility to perform hands on work with mechanical and electrical systems including knowledge of best practices for piping systems as well as power and control system wiring per NEC (National Electric Code) and UL (Underwriters Laboratory) codes. Use of test and measurement equipment and lab data acquisition systems.\nKey Responsibilities\nInstallation and removal of compressors from test stands.\nFabricate and connect associated piping, wiring, and test instrumentation.\nPerform system leak testing and transfer of refrigerants between test stands and storage containers.\nPerform compressor tests over operating conditions requested by engineering team.\nCollect and manage test data using manual and automated data acquisition systems.\nModify test setups as instructed by engineering team.\nPerform repairs, modifications and preventative maintenance of compressor test stands.\nBasic Qualifications\nAssociate degree in Air Conditioning Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology.\nUniversal EPA Section 608 certification or ability to pass training and certification test is required.\nWilling to obtain the required medical certification to operate Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIVs) including forklifts and work savers.\nPreferred Qualifications (assets)\nOther qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:\nExperience in air conditioning and refrigeration is a great asset.\nWorking knowledge of commercial-industrial wiring, hydronic systems, AC Motors and Controls.\nExperience with single phase and three phase electrical power systems, VFDs, PLCs, PID Controls, transducers, flow meters, lab instrumentation and electrical test equipment including Yokogawa Power Analyzers.\nExperience with National Instruments-LabVIEW data acquisition systems is a plus.\nAbility to braze large piping using oxy-acetylene torches and use overhead cranes and rigging equipment for test setups.\nProficient PC skills including Microsoft office programs.\nExcellent written and verbal communication, organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills.\nSelf-motivated and capable of working with an experienced technical team.\nAbility to thrive in a fast-paced changing environment.\nAdditional information:\nCandidates must be authorized to work in the United States without restriction; visa sponsorship is not available.\nPay Range\nThe annual salary for this position is between $53,000.00 - $106,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.
