Want more of the story?Check out our background here. \nAbout the team and position\nWe’re looking for an Environmental professional to join our EHS team and support our mission to continue to build strong environmental compliance initiatives and programs. The Project Manager is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and monitoring of the organization's environmental programs and initiatives with a primary focus on environmental compliance and air quality. The Project Manager plays a main role in the collection and management of environmental data, operational data, and other records required for compliance and regulatory reporting. \nThe Project Manager, Environmental Health and Safety leads air-quality compliance for assigned Carvana and ADESA facilities nationwide. This role manages air permits, emissions reporting, regulatory obligations, inspections, facility changes, and agency interactions. The position also supports broader environmental compliance programs, including hazardous materials, environmental training, EPA identification numbers, SPCC, and site permitting.\nWhat you’ll be doing\nManage air permits, registrations, renewals, fees, and supporting records.\nPrepare or oversee emissions inventories, rolling totals, throughput calculations, certifications, and required reports.\nGather information from facilities nationwide and prepare environmental reports, such as Tier II, air compliance reports, waste reports, and wastewater discharge reports\nReview and manage revisions to environmental plans, such as spill prevention, control, and countermeasure (SPCC), stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPP), and waste contingency plans\nEvaluate VOC limits, coating and solvent requirements, and product compliance questions.\nPrepare facilities for air inspections, records requests, and agency follow-up.\nSupport permitting for new facilities, expansions, and equipment changes.\nManage environmental data including but not limited to air emissions, wastewater, chemical usage, and waste generation\nPrepare and facilitate environmental trainings\nProvide environmental compliance support to operating locations, including on site as needed.\nWork collaboratively with the EHS staff in a dynamic environment\nPerform multiple projects within schedule expectations\nCommunicate with Carvana employees, consultants, vendors, and contractors\nMonitor programs and performance to track compliance and effectiveness of all EHS initiatives.\nAnalyze data to identify trends, monitor program performance, and report on progress.\nBuild and maintain strong working relationships within the EHS team, Carvana’s on-site Inspection Center leadership teams, and various other internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with EHS regulations\nCollaborate with outside consultants as needed\nDirectly interface with regulators and inspectors as needed\nOther tasks related to environmental affairs and health and safety as assigned by team leadership\nWhat you should know/have\nBachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, or related field\nAt least 3 years of relevant experience (including graduate work) within the Environmental compliance or environmental Health and Safety field\nDirect experience with air permitting, emissions reporting, air compliance records, or stationary-source regulatory compliance.\nSelf-Driven and must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously\nExcellent organizational skills\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills\nDemonstrated competence applying for, implementing, and managing environmental permits.\nStrong knowledge of environmental legislation including RCRA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and SARA Title III\nStrong analytical and data-driven skill set\nExperience working closely and communicating effectively with a diverse set of stakeholders in an ever-changing, rapid growth environment with tight deadlines;\nAbility to multitask, set priorities, maintain flexibility, and work independently with minimal supervision\nKnowledge of how to utilize Google suite\nWillingness to travel domestically as needed, up to 25%\nWe’d love it if you also have\nREM, CHMM\nDirect experience with vehicle refinishing, surface coating, VOC/HAP compliance, and multi-site operations\nA background in engineering and/or consulting\nExperience working in a production focused environment\nWhat we’ll offer in return\nFull-Time Salary Position with a competitive salary.\nMedical, Dental, and Vision benefits.\n401K with company match.\nA multitude of perks including student loan payments, discounts on vehicles, benefits for your pets, and much more..\nA great wellness program to keep you healthy and happy both physically and mentally.\nAccess to opportunities to expand your skillset and share your knowledge with others across the organization.\nA company culture of promotions from within, with a start-up atmosphere allowing for varied and rapid career development.\nA seat in one of the fastest-growing companies in the country\nOther requirements\nTo be able to do your job at Carvana, there are some basic requirements we want to share with you.\nMust be able to read, write, speak and understand English.\nOf course, we’ll make any reasonable accommodations for those with disabilities to perform the essential functions of their jobs. \nLegal stuff\nHiring is contingent on passing a complete background check.
