We offer career opportunities with work/life balances, as well as a rewarding career experience.\nWe are looking to hire a highly skilled Sushi Line Cook to prepare sushi dishes in accordance with food health and safety regulations and restaurant standards. The Sushi Line Cook’s responsibilities include preparing traditional Japanese sushi rice, chopping, slicing, and filleting various kinds of fish, and placing orders for supplies as needed. You should also be able to customize customers’ orders according to preferences and food allergy considerations.\nDue to the nature of our business, this position is required to work weekends and holidays.\nThe day-to-day responsibilities include but are not limited to:\nGeneral Duties and Responsibilities:\nExpertly cutting, slicing, and filleting different types of fish.\nInspecting the quality of fruits, vegetables, and fish used to prepare sushi dishes and informing the Executive Chef when quality is sub-standard.\nPreparing various types of sushi dishes according to established guidelines on quality, portion size, presentation, and food safety.\nMaintaining a clean work environment in order to prevent food contamination.\nRegularly taking inventory of food supplies and other products.\nReporting any problems with kitchen equipment to the manager on duty.\nSterilizing all utensils, instruments, and equipment used in sushi preparation before every use.\nCommunicating with wait staff to ensure that special requests and food allergy considerations are met.\nRequirements\nThe requirements for this position include but are not limited to:\nKnowledge and Skills:\nStrong skills in sushi and sashimi\nMinimum of 10 years of experience\nFood handler’s license.\nSound knowledge of food health and safety regulations.\nThe ability to stand for extended periods.\nThe ability to work a fast-paced environment.\nExcellent communication and leadership skills.\nExceptional organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.\nWorking Conditions:\nThis position will spend 100% of the time standing.\nOccasional environmental exposures to cold, heat and moisture.\nThe individual must be able to transport up to 40 pounds on occasion and up to 25 pounds regularly.\nMust be able speak, read and understand basic cooking directions.\nThe above job description is meant to describe the general nature and level of work being performed; it is not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required for the position.\nAll job requirements are subject to possible modification to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities.
