The Mechanical Engineer / Designer will support the design, fabrication, testing, and field deployment of custom mechanical equipment and treatment systems.\nThis position combines mechanical engineering, equipment design, drafting, fabrication support, testing, and field engineering. The role is primarily office-based, with periodic work in the shop and travel to project sites and vendor facilities.\nResponsibilities\nDesign mechanical equipment, piping, manifolds, skids, ductwork, supports, and other custom-fabricated systems and components.\nPerform engineering calculations for equipment sizing, fluid flow, pressure drop, heat transfer, loading, and component selection.\nPrepare fabrication-quality drawings, equipment layouts, piping and instrumentation diagrams, assembly drawings, details, and bills of materials using AutoCAD.\nDevelop designs that consider safety, functionality, constructability, fabrication, transportation, installation, operation, and maintenance.\nApply engineering codes, standards, specifications, and practical fabrication knowledge, including materials, welding, machining, tolerances, and assembly methods.\nPrepare equipment specifications and review vendor submittals and fabricated equipment for compliance with project requirements.\nSupport shop and vendor fabrication, equipment assembly, modifications, repairs, and troubleshooting.\nDevelop and perform equipment inspection and testing, including factory acceptance, pre-shipment, commissioning, startup, and post-project testing.\nDocument testing, deficiencies, corrective actions, equipment modifications, and final as-built conditions.\nProvide field engineering and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) support during installation, commissioning, startup, operation, troubleshooting, and demobilization.\nIdentify opportunities to improve equipment design, fabrication, testing, reliability, and field performance.\nFollow company and project-specific health and safety requirements.\nQualifications\nBachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university, or an Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Engineering Design with relevant experience.\nThree to five years of relevant mechanical engineering, equipment design, fabrication, or industrial equipment experience preferred.\nProficiency with AutoCAD and demonstrated ability to produce fabrication-quality drawings.\nEducation and experience in mechanical drafting and engineering drawing practices in accordance with applicable ASME Y14-series standards, including dimensioning, tolerancing, weld symbols, drawing conventions, and preparation of fabrication and assembly drawings.\nExperience with industrial equipment such as piping systems, equipment skids, pumps, blowers, heat exchangers, tanks, vessels, valves, filters, and ductwork preferred.\nWorking knowledge of industrial materials and fabrication methods.\nExperience with equipment testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, construction, environmental remediation, or industrial process systems preferred.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.\nTravel and Physical Requirements\nValid driver's license and ability to travel up to approximately 20%, typically for several days to two weeks at a time.\nAbility to work in office, fabrication shop, construction, industrial, and outdoor environments.\nAbility to wear required personal protective equipment and meet applicable site-access and medical-surveillance requirements.\nSalary: $90,000 - $125,000 depending on experience\nWhy Work with TerraTherm:\nTerraTherm, a subsidiary of Cascade Environmental, is a leading provider of thermal remediation technologies, specializing in the cleanup of hazardous substances in soil, rock, and groundwater.
