The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and installing mechanical and hydraulic equipment throughout the mill to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.\nThis position requires a highly skilled mechanic who can diagnose complex equipment issues, perform preventative maintenance, and work effectively in a continuous manufacturing environment.\nWhat’s in it for you\nTaking care of our people is in our nature - so you’ll enjoy:\nHourly wage starting at $31.80/hr - $40.25/hr (dependant on experience and education) \nFull-time position with guaranteed hours for job stability\nSchedule 12 hour swing shift \nA full range of benefits: group insurance, telemedicine, and an employer-contributed retirement plan\nProfit sharing and employee share purchase plan - so you can share in our success\nEmployee assistance program, because your physical and mental well-being matters\nReferral bonus - help grow the team and get rewarded\nThis position requires a highly skilled mechanic who can diagnose complex equipment issues, perform preventative maintenance, and work effectively in a continuous manufacturing environment.\nKey Responsibilities\nTroubleshoot, repair, and maintain hydraulic, mechanical, and lubrication systems throughout the paper mill.\nDiagnose and repair hydraulic pumps, cylinders, valves, hydraulic power units, and associated control systems.\nRead and interpret hydraulic schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, and equipment drawings.\nPerform preventative and predictive maintenance on production equipment, using HYDAC or similar troubleshooting equipment.\nInstall, rebuild, and maintain hydraulic pumps, valves, and cylinders.\nRespond to equipment breakdowns and support emergency repairs to minimize downtime.\nConduct inspections and identify equipment deficiencies before failures occur.\nWork closely with operations personnel to improve equipment reliability and production efficiency.\nComplete maintenance work orders and documentation accurately and timely.\nFollow all safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and environmental regulations.\nParticipate in continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.\nQualifications\nRequired\nHigh school diploma or GED.\nMinimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.\nMinimum 3 years of hands-on hydraulic troubleshooting and repair experience.\nStrong knowledge of hydraulic power systems, pumps, valves (servo and proportional), cylinders, accumulators, and fluid power principles.\nAbility to read and interpret hydraulic schematics, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics.\nExperience rebuilding hydraulic pumps, cylinders, and valves.\nStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to work safely in an industrial environment.\nPreferred\nExperience in the pulp and paper industry.\nExperience with pneumatic systems and rotating equipment, and electrical control systems (i.e. Rexroth and Siemens DCS)\nKnowledge of predictive maintenance technologies such as vibration analysis and thermography.\nFamiliarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.\nAbility to climb ladders, work at heights, and work in confined spaces as required.\nAbility to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the shift.\nAbility to work in varying temperatures, noise levels, and industrial conditions.\nIf you bring the same care to who you are as to what you do, we’d love to meet you!\nApply now and join Cascades values diversity and inclusion and considers all applications equitably.This posting is for an active vacancy within our organization.
