Devops Engineer

We are seeking a hands-on DevOps Engineer to join a growing engineering team supporting critical applications within a complex enterprise environment.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong infrastructure background who enjoys solving operational challenges, automating processes and supporting production systems. Unlike many modern DevOps opportunities, this position requires experience working with on-premise infrastructure and physical servers rather than purely cloud-native environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and maintain production applications and underlying infrastructure

• Develop and maintain automation using Python and Shell scripting

• Troubleshoot infrastructure, networking and application-related issues

• Work closely with Development, Infrastructure and Support teams

• Drive operational improvements and DevOps best practices

• Support deployments, monitoring, incident resolution and root cause analysis

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the technology estate

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven DevOps, Infrastructure or Production Engineering experience

• Strong hands-on experience supporting on-premise infrastructure

• Python scripting experience

• Shell/Bash scripting experience

• Good understanding of networking fundamentals

• Exposure to database technologies

• Experience working within complex enterprise environments

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Desirable Experience

• Financial Services experience

• Exposure to Kubernetes or containerisation technologies

• Experience supporting market data platforms or low-latency environments

The successful candidate will be a pragmatic engineer with strong technical fundamentals and a passion for solving real-world operational problems. Previous experience working within structured, process-driven organisations will be highly beneficial.
