With over 50,000 five star reviews and a proven track record as a 9 figure direct to consumer brand, Muddy Mat has built massive product market fit across multiple digital channels. We move fast, we build for the long term, and we are now building the financial infrastructure to match our scale.\nThe Mission\nThis is not a \"manage clean books\" role. We are in the middle of a meaningful financial infrastructure upgrade - transitioning from cash basis to accrual accounting, migrating from QuickBooks Online to NetSuite, and preparing for a formal audit with a national CPA firm (BDO). We need someone who has done this before, who does not flinch at a cleanup project, and who can own the process end to end.\nIf you have inherited messy books and left them clean - this role was written for you.\nWhat You'll Own\nLead and execute our transition from cash basis to accrual accounting, including restating historical financials and rebuilding the chart of accounts.\nOwn the migration from QuickBooks Online to NetSuite, partnering with our external NetSuite implementation consultant to ensure the system is configured correctly from day one.\nLead pre audit book cleanup in direct coordination with BDO, our external audit firm.\nOwn and manage the formal audit process from start to finish.\nOwn month end and year end close, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements.\nManage all aspects of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.\nBuild and maintain a strong internal controls environment to safeguard company assets.\nPrepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to the CEO and leadership team.\nIdentify and implement process improvements as we build a finance function that can scale.\nWhat We're Looking For\nNon negotiable:\nDemonstrated experience transitioning a company from cash basis to accrual accounting - you have done this, recently, and can speak to it specifically.\nHands on experience with NetSuite - migration or implementation experience strongly preferred.\nExperience working directly with an external audit firm on audit preparation and execution.\n7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a Controller or senior accounting role.\nCPA designation (or local equivalent) strongly preferred.\nDeep knowledge of US GAAP.\nStrong preference - automatic interview:\nPrior experience at a Big 4 firm (Deloitte, PwC, Ernst & Young, or KPMG) in audit or tax - Philippines, Latin America, or Eastern Europe specifically.\nExperience in e commerce, DTC, or consumer products - multi channel revenue recognition is a plus.\nPrior experience migrating from QuickBooks Online to an ERP system.\nThe person, not just the resume:\nYou are a builder, not a maintainer. You are energized by a blank whiteboard, not intimidated by it.\nYou communicate clearly with non finance stakeholders - you translate numbers into decisions, not just reports.\nYou are accountable.
