We make buying, selling, and discovering collectibles more engaging through mystery packs, instant liquidity, marketplaces, and new ways for collectors to interact with their collections.\nWe're a fast-growing startup backed by YC, Foundation Capital, Coinbase Ventures, Robinhood Ventures, and several top angels- based in San Francisco, working at the intersection of collectibles, commerce, gaming, and technology.\nThe Role\nWe're looking for a Software Engineer to join our early engineering team and help build CatchBack from the ground up.\nYou'll work across the stack and own meaningful parts of the product-from customer-facing experiences used by thousands of collectors to the backend systems responsible for payments, inventory, marketplaces, and real-time pack openings.\nThis is a high-ownership role. You'll ship directly to production, work closely with the founders, talk to users, and have significant influence over both our product and technical direction.\nWhat You'll Work On\nBuild and ship new consumer-facing features across web and mobile\nDesign reliable backend systems for transactions, inventory, payments, and marketplace activity\nBuild real-time and interactive experiences around pack openings and collectibles\nImprove performance and reliability as transaction volume scales\nIntegrate payments, logistics, authentication, and third-party APIs\nDevelop internal tools that help our operations team manage thousands of physical collectibles\nHelp make architectural and infrastructure decisions as we scale\nOwn projects end-to-end, from product discussions through deployment and monitoring\nWhat We're Looking For\nStrong software engineering fundamentals\nExperience building and shipping production applications\nComfortable working across the stack\nExperience with modern TypeScript/JavaScript ecosystems\nFamiliarity with React/Next.js and backend/API development\nStrong understanding of databases and data modeling\nAbility to move quickly without sacrificing reliability\nComfortable operating in an early-stage environment with ambiguity and high ownership\nStrong product instincts-you care about what users experience, not just whether the code works\nExperience with high-volume consumer applications, payments/fintech, marketplaces, gaming, real-time systems, or mobile development is a plus, but isn't required.\nHow We Work\nWe're a small team and operate with a high degree of ownership. Engineers aren't handed fully specified tickets-they're expected to understand the problem, contribute to the solution, build it, and see how users respond. The ideal candidate would be both technically talented as well as product minded.\nWe ship quickly, care deeply about the product, and believe some of the best work happens when engineering, product, and design sit together.\nThis role is in-person in San Francisco.\nWhy CatchBack\nYou'll join at a stage where individual engineers can still meaningfully shape the company.
