Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.\nWe are seeking a Control Systems Application Engineer to support the development and calibration of Electro-Hydraulic (EH) Steering and Steer-By-Wire machines. Both aftermarket and factory-fit for Caterpillar machines. The EH Steering team owns all steering applications across Caterpillar, so this role will support many different applications as X-by-Wire feature adoption accelerates, learning and applying best practices in the EH Steering space.\nWhat you will do:\nLearn and apply the processes and procedures of the EH Steering team\nCollaborate with machine product groups to gather kinematic information and understand any nuances specific to the application\nUse Matlab, Simulink, and internal tools to develop baseline steering calibrations\nSupport on-machine fine tuning activities, ensuring operator acceptance and system performance are maximized\nCollaborate with hardware, hydraulics, and software teams to understand and account for system characteristics and limitations\nSupport safety system testing and documentation activities\nPerform validation, testing, and troubleshooting activities\nEngage with autonomy, remote control, and advanced feature teams to apply steering functions\nWhat You Will Have:\nAnalytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.\nCommunicating Complex Concepts: Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.\nProblem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.\nEmbedded Systems: Knowledge of embedded systems and their applications; ability to develop embedded systems with varying levels of complexity to control the operations of the machine it is embedded within.\nRequirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.\nTechnical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application or operation.\nProduct Development in Manufacturing: Knowledge of methodologies, tools and techniques of product development; ability to design, build and manage manufacturing of new products.\nProduct Testing: Knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.\nDegree Requirement:\nBS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field.\nTop candidates will also have:\nExperience in embedded control systems for mobile equipment or automotive applications.\nExperience developing software with Model-based tools, such as the Matlab/Simulink environment and AUTOSAR toolsets\nExperience working with functional safety and braking system compliance standards, including ISO 19014, ISO 13849, ISO 26262, and ISO 3450\nExperience in steering systems, EH hydraulics, or safety-critical control systems.\nExperience with control system architecture, modular software design, and system integration.\nAdditional Information:\nThis position requires the candidate to work full-time at the Mossville, IL office.\nDomestic relocation assistance is available for this position.\nVisa sponsorship is not available for this position\nTravel is up to 10%\nSummary Pay Range:\n$89,210.00 - $133,810.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-relatedknowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
