In this role, you will collaborate with a highly skilled engineering team to verify and validate embedded software, while developing deep expertise in the electrical and electronic systems that power Caterpillar’s products and technologies.\nYou and your team will perform system integration testing using a combination of Software-in-the-Loop (SiL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) methodologies to ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable software for both internal and external customers.\nWe have an exceptional team doing some of the most exciting and impactful work at Caterpillar-and we can’t wait for you to be part of it.\n\nAdditional Information:\n Location: Mossville, IL (United States) and requires working on site Monday - Friday\n Required Travel: Less than 10% (Domestic & International)\nRelocation Assistance Offered: Domestic\nUS Work Sponsorship Offered: None\nWhat You Will Do:\nWork with the testing team lead, machine system coordinators, and electronic system design engineers to define testing priorities and determine test coverage\nWork with system engineers to understand machine feature requirements, develop test plans, implement test plans, perform testing regression, document test result and troubleshoot new software features as needed\nPerform software regression, delta content testing, and properly document test results to meet compliance with functional safety requirements and ISO 9001 requirements\nDocument test process and results; prepare and analyze software defect-tracking reports \nDevelop product-testing procedures such as identification and implementation of new bench capabilities by participating in selecting the next generation of test environment and tools\nDevelop automated test scripts to improve testing efficiency in both the HiL and SiL environments\n\nWhat You Have (Basic Requirements):\nEducation Requirement: Degree or advanced degree in an accredited Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science\nTechnical Excellence: • Excellent working knowledge of dSPACE hardware and software such as VEOS, ControlDesk, Automation Desk to operate our dSPACE XiL environment independently\nProduct Testing: • Excellent working knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing for L6 machine level software integration • Perform software regression, delta content testing, and properly document test results to meet compliance with functional safety requirements and ISO 9001 requirements • Document test process and results; prepare and analyze software defect-tracking reports • Develop product-testing procedures; participates in selecting the next generation test environment and tools\nAnalytical Thinking: • Strong working knowledge of data analysis techniques and tools to effectively review test data, be able to understand and explain discrepancies and inconsistencies of test results • Identify possible causes of bench issues or software defect using sound technical techniques • Approach a complex problem by breaking it down into smaller components • Develop and use checklists to ensure that test scripts and test results goes out error-free • Learn from mistakes and applies lessons learned\nEffective Communications: • Collaborative team player with strong verbal and written communication skills • Clearly convey and interpret ideas, information, and requirements across diverse teams • Present and review test results effectively with process partners and peers • Review others’ writing and presentations, offering constructive feedback and coaching • Listen to feedback without defensiveness and applies it to improve communication and support standardization of testing processes\nTop Candidates Will Have: \nExperience assembling and modifying test bench including wiring and harnessing\nSolid working experience in the design, development, or testing of embedded systems. \nStrong experience with dSPACE test equipment and Automation Desk\nStrong attention to detail through all phases of testing cycle\nSoftware development experience utilizing C, C++, or Simulink\nStrong experience with Python scripting\nStrong experience with Opal test equipment\nStrong experience with SIL and Googletest\nRegular usage of GIT configuration management\nSolid systems/requirements experience in the Automotive or Heavy Equipment industry\n\nWhat You Will Get:\nThis is Caterpillar - creating and delivering world-class components and solutions superior to the competition.
