This role requires deep expertise in Linux-based embedded systems, C++, AI software toolchains, and system-level debugging, with growing emphasis on AI workloads, inference engines, and LLM-based capabilities at the edge.\nYou will work at the intersection of hardware, operating systems, middleware, and AI acceleration, delivering robust, production-quality software for next-generation platforms.\nWhat You Will Do:\nDesign, develop, and maintain embedded Linux software for AI accelerated compute platforms (CPU/GPU/SoC)\nDevelop high-performance C++ components for embedded and real-time systems\nIntegrate and optimize applications using the AI software ecosystem (e.g., CUDA, TensorRT, DeepStream, JetPack)\nEnable and optimize AI inference pipelines on embedded GPUs, including model deployment, acceleration, and performance tuning\nWork with LLM-related workloads at the edge, including model integration, inference optimization, and system constraints analysis\nDebug complex system-level issues across hardware, Linux kernel, drivers, middleware, and applications\nPerform root cause analysis of performance, stability, and functional issues in embedded environments\nDevelop and execute validation and verification strategies, including unit, integration, and system testing\nCollaborate closely with hardware, systems, AI/ML, and platform teams to ensure end-to-end solution readiness\nOptimize software for performance, latency, memory footprint, and power consumption\nSupport software bring-up on new hardware platforms and assist with board support package (BSP) integration\nContribute to software architecture decisions, technical reviews, and coding standards\nMentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on complex embedded and AI-enabled systems\nWhat You Will Have:\nSoftware Development: Knowledge of software development tools and activities; ability to produce software products or systems in line with product requirements.\nTeamwork: Knowledge of the necessity and value of teamwork; experience with; ability to work cooperatively towards shared goals and being supportive of others at all levels.\nProducing Results: Understanding of the criticality of getting things done in spite of current circumstances and the ability to utilize assigned resources and leverage back-channel resources (individuals or teams) to achieve or exceed planned outcomes.\nTop Candidates Will Have:\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, or related field.\n5+ years in platform architecture, edge computing, and embedded systems with proven strategic leadership.\nExpertise in edge AI frameworks, hardware acceleration, real-time systems and edge security\nFamiliarity with IoT ecosystems, industrial edge platforms, and cloud-edge orchestration.\nExceptional communication, collaboration, and strategic thinking abilities.\nExperience with supporting vision applications, autonomous vehicles, cybersecurity, hypervisors/virtualization, software-defined machine/vehicle, Linux Yocto, QNX\nAdditional Information:\nLocation is Irving, TX and requires working onsite 5 days per week\nRelocation assistance is available in accordance with Caterpillar policies.\nTravel is 10%\nSponsorship is available for this position.\nSummary Pay Range:\n$112,710.00 - $169,060.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-relatedknowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
