Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.\nLarge Power Systems Division (LPSD) is currently looking for a Engineer to lead the development and maintenance of core engine components for Caterpillar Engine applications. The position is accountable for leading the design, development and validation of core engine components (5C components include cylinder heads, cylinder blocks, crankshafts, connecting rods, camshafts, gears, housings, pistons, rings, liners, and valve mechanism components.) and systems in support of New Source Introduction (NSI), Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) and New Product Introduction (NPI) projects. The position will have broad responsibility from concept development to release to production in a manner to ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability.\nThe individual must have strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with NSI lead, product group teams, and key strategic suppliers to effectively design and development components and system solutions supporting product group’s program deliverables. Clear and consistent communication, the ability to troubleshoot, and solid technical aptitude are essential in this position for effective collaboration with diverse teams.\nJob duties:\n· In this position, you will be mainly responsible for Design and development Reciprocating Engines Core components (5C components include cylinder heads, cylinder blocks, crankshafts, connecting rods, camshafts, gears, housings, pistons, rings, liners, and valve mechanism components) and related processes.\nUnderstand program requirements, boundary conditions & dynamics aspects & refine the design in close collaboration with component suppliers without compromising in design requirements and solve Manufacturing, Assembly & Field issues.\nLead technical evaluation, design calculations, and participate in design decisions\nUtilize & follow key product development processes (FMEA, DVP&R, APQP, PPAP etc.) inherent in NTI, NPI, CPI, Maintenance & Cost Reduction Programs.\nCarry out basic performance analysis of the subsystem’s using analysis tools.\nProvide technical support to Manufacturing, Quality, and Purchasing team during the proto development\nCollaborate with Technical Leads, SME & Chief Engineer for test & validation requirements and communicate the results to cross functional team & Stakeholders for alignment to proceed for production.\nEnsure that drawing contains all the relevant information required for downstream usage\nKeeps abreast of latest technological advancements in Reciprocating Engine Valve Trains & develop innovative solutions for better quality & cost competitive designs.\nLead project completion to time, quality and cost targets\nEffectively collaborate with internal & external suppliers and partners to meet the business goals Travel of approximately 15%-20% of time to supplier and manufacturing facilities is expected..\nBasic Qualifications:\n· Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 7+ years of relevant work experience progressively responsible job-related experience are typically required.\n· Minimum of 3+ years of component design or validation experience\nGood functional knowledge on Core Engine Components system & subsystems\nAbility to perform complex assignments, strong analytical skills with good interpersonal & global collaboration skills.\nSkills in design & analysis tools preferably in Creo & Performance software ( AVL & GT Software’s)\n· Project management and Knowledge on NPI, NTI & CPI process with excellent communications skills are necessary.\n· Self-starter with good multitasking skills to optimize and deliver desired results under challenging requirements of quality, cost (development and product), and timelines\n· Willingness to travel globally as per project requirements are required.\nTop Candidates Will Also Have:\n\nMaster’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent\nExperience in working with global teams\nPro-E , NX IDEAS and Cat Engineering Standards experience\nSkill Descriptors\nAnalytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.\nLevel Extensive Experience: \nSeeks discrepancies and inconsistencies in available information; explains variances.\nOrganizes and prioritizes the sequence of steps to be taken to remedy the situation.\nIdentifies many possible causes for a problem based on prior experience and current research.\nQuantifies the costs, benefits, risks and chances for success before recommending a course of action.\nApproaches a complex problem by breaking it down into its component parts.\nChooses among a diverse set of analytical tools according to the nature of the situation. Level Extensive Experience: \nCoaches others on orthographic, isometric and axonometric projections.\nPresents complex products and systems graphically.\nPerforms manipulations on design objects, such as changing projections and managing drawing layers.\nDirects the matrix computations performed to transform objects in coordinate space.\nConsults on benefits and drawbacks of top-down design vs. bottom-up design.\nCompares and contrasts uses of bird's-eye views and worm's-eye views. Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.
