Positioned centrally along the south coast, it is located close to national and international transport links.\nWith approximately 130 members of staff, there is a long and distinguished history spanning over 50 years of manufacturing marine propulsion and auxiliary engines under the Cat® and Perkins Marine® brands. Genset packages ranging from 1.5 Litre to 7.1 Litre and 7.1 Litre propulsion engines are produced at the Wimborne site.\nThe facility employs a wealth of hugely experienced designers, engineers and technicians used to providing solutions for commercial, pleasure, and military customers. From the design, testing and building, each engine is proven before leaving the premises to ensure the best performance for the end-user.\nJob Summary\nThis is an exciting opportunity to lead the planning, organisation and delivery of business-critical programs from definition through to implementation. You will bring structure, pace and clear governance to complex projects, working across functional teams to manage priorities, resolve issues and provide senior leaders with accurate, decision-ready reporting. Reporting into the Operations Manager, you will be highly influential in production and manufacturing engineering decision making using your underpinning lean knowledge to challenge norms and facilitate change.\nAdditional Info:\nThere may be a small amount of national and international travel with this role (less than 5%).\nWhat You Will Do:\nLead the planning, organisation and implementation of programs, translating business objectives into clear project plans, milestones and deliverables.\nManage all aspects of project delivery, including scope, schedule, resources, risks, dependencies and stakeholder expectations.\nSet deadlines, assign responsibilities and monitor the productivity and performance of project teams to maintain delivery momentum.\nReview project materials and deliverables, ensuring agreed methods, governance processes and procedures are consistently followed.\nIdentify issues, risks and vulnerabilities early, develop contingency plans and coordinate timely corrective action.\nConduct regular and ad hoc reviews with project teams, sponsors and clients, maintaining open communication across all interested parties.\nPrepare and present concise program-level reporting for senior management, clearly summarising progress, decisions, risks and required actions.\nWhat You Have:\nA degree or equivalent relevant experience is desired, supported by extensive experience of managing significant, cross-functional projects or programs.\nExcellent analytical thinking, with the ability to break down complex problems, identify root causes, assess options and recommend practical solutions based on cost, benefit and risk.\nProven strategic and tactical planning skills, with the ability to align resources, dependencies and departmental plans to wider business objectives.\nStrong communication, influencing and relationship management skills, with the ability to engage decision makers, gather requirements and present recommendations persuasively.\nThe flexibility and organisation to manage multiple priorities in a changing environment while maintaining progress, quality and stakeholder confidence.\nLean/Six Sigma qualification is desirable.\nLean Manufacturing: Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.\nProblem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.\nDecision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.\nTop candidates may have:\nLean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification\nExperience in a Manufacturing Environment\nKnowledge of diesel engines and generatorators\nWhat You Will Get\nYou will have the opportunity to lead visible, high-impact programs within a global manufacturing organisation, working with diverse teams and senior stakeholders.
