We make progress and innovation happen, helping our customers build a better, more sustainable world.\nJob Summary\nThe Manufacturing Engineer provides the technical expertise necessary to design, develop, and implement manufacturing systems, complex manufacturing operations and sophisticated machines. This is a staff position which is expected to function as a specialist with respect to a specific technical phase of the planning function and which generally falls within the major areas: planning, tooling, maintenance, plant engineering, releasing, manufacturing processes, assembly, capital projects, etc.\nWhat you will do:\nDevelops, analyzes, and manages Manufacturing/ Assembly Projects. Assists in developing department capital and expense budgets. Maintains the department capital forecast.\nAdministers the assembly NPI process to ensure that Engineering drawings are released and processed on time for NPI build.\nCreate and implement APQP and SFMEA (Safety) for new equipment and process. To provide a smooth transition from NPI to full production for Operation.\nEngages in creative problem solving to address operational issues including ergonomic/ safety, efficiency improvements, process bottlenecks, quality concerns.\nWorks with internal and external suppliers to develop and manage projects to ensure efficient and cost-effective systems and processes to produce quality products.\nProvides the application, procurement, processing, installation, and capability of assembly and test processes and equipment.\nDesigns, develops, and implements the integration of manufacturing systems including factory control software, scheduling techniques, simulation, and systems application. EOL testing and analysis experience a plus.\nDesign and integrate automation it existing manufacturing equipment.\nWork with Metrology engineer to some up with advance gage solutions for new and existing product to improve the quality.\nProvides manufacturing technical support in process control and internal certification.\nCoordinates the purchase and application of machine tools, controls, and related equipment corporate wide to ensure the latest technology is being used to increase efficiency and= economy of operations.\nKnowledge of manufacturing concepts, Soft and Hard machining, CAD software\nPrior Project Management experience\nDegree Requirement:\nBachelor’s degree in engineering or industrial technology or equivalent experience\nWhat you will have:\nDecision Making and Critical Thinking: Working knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.\nEngineering - MFG: Working knowledge of processes, techniques and methods of engineering in a manufacturing environment; ability to design and implement materials, structures, machines, devices, systems and processes that safely realize a desired objective or invention.\nManufacturing Processes: Working knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process.\nProject Management: Working knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.\nTop candidates will possess:\nAutomation system experience including PLCs and robots used in assembly, deburring.\nPrevious machine tools process (CNC) experience\nGrinding and Honing processes\nDiesel and fuel system experience\nSupplier collaboration and management experience\nAPQP experience\n6 Sigma and Lean Manufacturing concepts\nAdditional Information:\nThis position requires the selected candidate to work on-site five days a week in the Pontiac, IL facility.\nDomestic relocation provided\nVisa sponsorship is NOT provided\nTravel - 25% both domestic and international\nFinal Details\nPlease ensure you frequently sign in to your candidate home for any updates or correspondence for positions that you have applied for. https://cat.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com/CaterpillarCareers.\nThis employer is not currently hiring foreign national applicants that require or will require sponsorship tied to a specific employer, such as, H, L, TN, F, J, E, O.
