This position works both independently and as part of a team to maintain and improve processes and systems used in manufacturing. In addition, Manufacturing Engineers function as a specialist and subject matter expert for technical planning throughout a manufacturing facility. As Manufacturing Engineer, you will have an opportunity to provide the technical expertise necessary to design, develop, and implement manufacturing systems, manufacturing operations and state of the art machines.\nJOB PURPOSE:\nSupport the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes by leveraging advanced technologies, AI-enabled solutions, digital dashboards, and lean manufacturing principles. The role focuses on improving safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency through data-driven decision making, low-cost automation, and smart manufacturing initiatives.\nKey Responsibilities:\nAssist in developing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes for engine assembly, testing, paint, and related operations.\nSupport New Product Introduction (NPI) and Concurrent Process and Product Development (CPPD) activities.\nParticipate in process validation, manufacturing readiness reviews, and production launch activities.\nDevelop and update assembly procedures, process flows, work instructions, BOMs, PFMEAs, and standard work documentation.\nSupport implementation of AI-based manufacturing solutions for safety, quality, and productivity improvement.\nDevelop and maintain Power BI dashboards and digital visual management tools for manufacturing performance monitoring.\nAnalyze manufacturing data to identify trends, bottlenecks, quality issues, and improvement opportunities.\nSupport MES, SAP, and shop-floor device integration initiatives to improve process traceability and operational visibility.\nParticipate in Industry 4.0 and digital transformation projects involving IoT, smart devices, and connected manufacturing systems.\nContribute to safety improvement initiatives through risk assessments, ergonomic studies, and implementation of safety controls.\nSupport deployment of digital safety technologies such as vision systems, interlocks, and process monitoring solutions.\nDesign and develop assembly fixtures, jigs, gauges, work-holding devices, poka-yoke solutions, and ergonomic tooling to support safe and efficient manufacturing operations.\nParticipate in prototype development, validation, and implementation of assembly tooling and fixtures.\nWork closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to procure, manufacture, install, and commission tooling solutions.\nEnsure tooling designs comply with safety, ergonomics, quality, and Caterpillar manufacturing standards.\nParticipate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities to improve safety, quality, and process reliability.\nDrive continuous improvement and waste reduction initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles.\nAssist in the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of tooling, fixtures, gauges, and manufacturing equipment.\nSupport implementation of low-cost automation and mistake-proofing (Poka-Yoke) solutions.\nContribute to evaluation of new technologies and preparation of business cases for process improvements.\nMonitor equipment performance and support troubleshooting activities.\nSupport factory layout modifications and workstation improvements to enhance safety, productivity, and material flow.\nAssist in capacity analysis, line balancing, and space optimization initiatives.\nParticipate in manufacturing process improvement projects aimed at reducing cycle time and improving efficiency.\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.\n4 to 6 years of manufacturing engineering or production engineering experience.\nKnowledge of manufacturing processes, assembly operations, and industrial engineering principles.\nExperience with CAD tools such as CREO and AutoCAD.\nExposure to Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.\nKnowledge of data analysis, root cause analysis, and problem-solving techniques.\nFamiliarity with SAP ERP, MES, or manufacturing information systems.\nProficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel and Power BI.\nStrong communication, teamwork, and stakeholder engagement skills.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExposure to AI-based manufacturing applications, machine vision systems, or digital manufacturing technologies.\nExperience with IoT, Industry 4.0, automation, robotics, or smart factory initiatives.\nUnderstanding of engine assembly, testing, leak testing, or torque-controlled assembly processes.\nExposure to APQP, PFMEA, and manufacturing process validation activities.\nKnowledge of low-cost automation and productivity improvement projects.\nKey Competencies:\nProcess Engineering\nDigital Manufacturing\nTooling & Fixture design\nAI & Industry 4.0\nSafety First Mindset\nPower BI & Dashboards\nData Analytics\nLean Manufacturing\nContinuous Improvement\nProblem Solving\nLow-Cost Automation\nManufacturing Systems (MES/SAP)\nNPI & Process Validation\nAdditional information: This job requires 5 working days from office.\nThis Job Description is intended as a general guide to the job duties for this position and is intended for the purpose of establishing the specific salary grade.
